Goodyear Eagle F-1s

I love these tyres (except in the snow !) but does anyone else find them really noisy at motorway speeds ? Or do I have a more serious problem ?

I have F1s but IMHO they're not excessively noisey...I mean they are wider and have a softer compound than the standard tyre so I expect a little more noise.

I do get a bearing wear kind of noise when turning which I put down to the tread pattern and that they are directional.

That said I have a CAI fitted and at mway speeds can't hear the tyres. :D

That's exactly the kind of noise I'm talking about, thank f*** for that, cheers mate, you have really put my mind at ease ! ;) I don't care about the noise if that's all it is !

Yeah....had me worried for a while as well...."bl**dy bearings not going?".....but no wheel movement.....Nick (ncarring) had a similar noise with his Kumhos and these are directional as well.

Hi!

what tyre size are you 2 using? As the F1's dont come in the stock size of 205/50/17...

225/45/17 i would guess at.

225/45/17 i would guess at.

I'm using 225/40/18...but for 17'' it would be 225/45/17.

cheers for that guys!

I have at the front 205/50/17.... they have loads of tread on. However my rears are getting quite low now. Would it be ok if I just changed the rears to 225/45/17? Or do they have to be the same as the front?

You can change the rears alone no problem, just don't mix tyre sizes on the same axle.

Sorry Adrian i didn't realise you had 18" ers.. i'll be fitting 225/45/17 to mine next week.

No worries. :D

Not good for you either in the snow then? I'm in trouble as I recommended them to my boss for his mundano, he was initially happy with them until it snowed and he was unable to get out of his street (on a hill), not a problem he'd previously had with his old tyres! :o Worst thing was all his neighbours drove past him one by one wondering what he was up to....
