VRS life expectancy

Featured Replies

Ok first of all hi all am new here and looking for a fabia vrs at the moment. I was just wondering as my budget is low and I am looking at higher mileage cars what do people think is a reasonable life expectancy mileage wise. What are peoples high mileage cars at and how are they running. Hope this makes sense. regards.

mines on 114k and still purring like a kitten :giggle: just make sure the one you buy has service history and looks like its been looked after!

ever so slightly uncalled for IMO and a great way to treat a new member. Maybe the OP has a family car already and wants a second smaller car for other reasons.

First of Welcome to the site, have a look around im sure you'll find most of the answers to your questions.

If treated right These cars do go on for a long time, regular oil services using PD oil is a must. Ive heard of a few close to 200,000 miles that are still running fine. There will be a few issue like Console bushes and ARB bushes. There will be lemons around but its the same with any model of car.

Thanks thats more like the welcome I was looking for. Was just wondering if I spent 3 and a half grand on a car thats done 100k whether it would last and your reply has given me the 200k assurance I was looking for. Thanks again.

Oh and the Fabia will last so long as its a good one, same as any car.

Don't rush into buying a high mileage car straight away, six months ago I bought a 54 plate, 37k mile VRS for £4400. Good deals do come up, you just have to be quick about them.

Are you for real?

How do you know the OP's circumstances or transport arrangements.

His wife could have a Yeti or something, like mine. :dull:

Welcome to the forum OP, most of us are friendly.

Welcome on board Mate,

Hope you find what your looking for

What a load of rubbish. Ignore him.

Firstly; welcome to the forum

I would say, looked after properly and maintained in accordance with manufacturer spec, there's no reason why a vRS wouldn't breeze past 200k.

For the size of car, they're impressively comfortable and capable of swallowing up large distances with ease. I should know; I've owned 3 of them and done numerous journeys all over the UK as well as tens of thousands of miles.

They are also perfectly capable of holding a decent amount of luggage and people. So you and your family will be fine :)

Hope you find what you're looking for, within budget. Be picky about the examples you're looking at, and post up info and questions if need be.

Cheers,

Steve

that last thread is very worrying. Wonder that he's not killed himself or someone else!

Bought mine with 48k on it... Now it's on 76k and sweeter than ever...

I've read about loads of high milage ones on here and it really does come down to how well they've been looked after.

If everything's been done when it should you shouldn't have any problems.. just mind out for the normal TDi issues, like to loud a turbo whine, or a rattly dual mass flywheel. If it drives and sounds well, it's most likely well :)

My vrs is approaching 117k and seems to get better by the mile :) I have replaced most of the suspension parts recently so it handles better than most low mileage cars.

Welcome to the forum by the way

welcome to the forum

our 2003 vrs has done 86k miles, my roomster 2007 has a 1.9pd 105bhp has covered 155k miles

so long as the oil has been changed regular etc they should cover 200-250k miles no problem

I have just bought a 85k 54 reg vrs for 4k and its very solid very well looked after :)

3.5k isn't too little tbh just bide your time pal and welcome to the forum.

I got my vrs about 2 months ago on 146k. ran sweet as a nut until the turbo gave up last week.

after a big bill it's sorted but now im pretty confident it can go way past 200k without a great deal of trouble.

Listen out for a noisy turbo and make sure it has good service history.

welcome!

I bought my Fabia vRS recently with 125k.

It drives brilliantly and everyone I know is absolutely amazed at the condition of it.

If the car has been cared for, treated properly mechanically then you shouldn't have any major bills.

I traded mine in at 64,500 miles after spending £1,000 in three visits to the garage to sort out the suspension and steering...

an expensive garage to avoid then :)

The majority of that was at Furrows in Oswestry who also replaced a window motor that was perfectly healthy!

Put it this way mate.

I bought mine with 60k on the clock in October 2010. It now has 85k on the clock.

Very reliable apart from normal wear/tear. Mainly suspsension!

Me and the wife have decided we are going to keep it until the car becomes far too expensive to maintain or dies on us.

Awesome!

OP - welcome to the site. As others have said - ensure FSH and you should be fine apart from normal wear and tear.

That only applies to some cars. My 2004 one was bought new and needed 3 expensive garage visits between 50k and 64k totalling over £1,000 to sort out the front suspension and steering. They were not a fault of either my driving or the lack of a full service record - just poor manufacturing standards. I am now told my 2007 car needs £200 spending on new bushes - more expense. Why didn't I buy a Kia?

I'm sure VAG will be extending warranty periods very soon.
