I want to change my headunit but want something that looks a bit like the original but with more sound and punch. I remember I had a really nice Sony one in the Golf which sounded great and that was through the standard speakers. May be looking for some new speakers too, nothing too expensive, very standard looking and that are easily fitted. Am not looking to purchase a sub, just a new head unit and speakers- pretty much the set up I had in the golf but I can't seem to find any head units that I like the look of online.Are there brands that are to be avoided?

The other thing is I have the 6 CD boot changer and my standard head unit is the cassette / radio.

Certain Alpine models, or a Becker - for OEMness

Just have a browse at Blaupunkt Direct I found just what I wanted when the Swing Radio came out for replacement

Cheers, will have a gander. I started looking at the Blaupunkts last night but will check out some OEM style stuff tonight. Don't get me wrong it doesn't have to be OEM or I'll cry just something that isn't going to look naff.

Becker would be spot on, but they're expensive. Check eBay too though.

The Beckers seem a bit on the £ side, some of the Alpine units look very OEM, no thrills and have ipod ready units.

The Beckers are in a different league really, in terms of quality, SQ and of course price...

Well I'm all for quality but I can't go down the route I did with the last car where there was no limits, I want to have very set tasks and small ones at that !! However a nice set of Octavia 18" wheels would look great.

I thought the Alpine had a certain amount of stealth about it, it even had green bits! £110 isn't bad, plus there's the bay where all dreams come true for the impecunious folk like me!
