enable brake light as tail light

Featured Replies

Hi all

in my octavia II 2006 rear light, i activate both fog lights and i want to activate brake light to act as normal tail light.

I saw many many cars like that, but don't know how to do it.

Please can anyone tell me how to activate it.

best regards

MAK

If it is possible, it will be done via Central Electronics Byte 18. Take a look in VCDS at the long coding helper to see if it's there. It may well be done as DRLs.

One thing you need to be aware of is that the physical wiring controlled by this byte can be different in different markets.

No Byte 18 in a MY 2006. :) Old style individual coding. ;)

many thanks for replays.

actually i have upto byte 13 in centeral locking control.

how can i do individual coding ?

Sorry about that - I had you mixed up with another member with a BCM based car.

You should be looking at 09 - Central Electronics

IIRC, it's Byte 03 Bit 7. Set it to 1 (in decimal add 128 to what's already in byte 3) to get dimmed brake lights as tail lights.

Hope I got it right this time :)

Hi

I tried enabling this bit but i get

Coding rejected

Error 31 : Request out of range

this the cofiguration of my centeral electronic

No fault code found.

That label file doesn't know about bit 7 which probably means it's not supported.

If you change the long coding

from

A18C0F011004140000110D000000000000097F075C

to

A18C0F011004140000110D000000000008097F075C

does it work?

If it doesn't, then put it back as it's not supported.

I was 99% certain that you wouldn't be able to do it when I saw that it wasn't in the VCDS label file (Ross-tech are very good at providing all the options when available).

Changing the long-coding confirmed this - Sorry.

anyway many thanks for ur help :)

Newer versions of the Central Electronics Control Module (3C0/3C8 Modules with 30 Byte Coding) are able to run the Fog Lights as additional Brake Lights. Please keep in mind that any unapproved lighting modifications might violate your local laws and the cars registration / insurance might be void.

BTW: As I am sure you know you are using an outdated version of VCDS and I wouldn't be surprised if it's an illegal copy. So I am certain you understand that our interest in helping you is close to zero under these circumstances.
