The BKD engine responds very well to remapping, as Daz says, do a search and you will find all you want to know. The grunt you will get between 2000rpm and 3000rpm will put a smile on your face.

cheers k.young it is indeed BKD block, iam looking for solid data on fuel consumption, i.e. personal experince caz searching the internet the just gives out google's commercial side.

Heres a snapshot of my fuel economy for this year, I have my PD140 remapped on the 27/5/11 hence the very low MPG :giggle:

While it doesn't looked to have made much of a difference the times I use the car has changed and I am now starting todo a little more milage and my overall mpg is starting to improve since having the remap

The main issue to my overall mpg is the fact that I tow a caravan and that affects MPG dramatically

Date Odometer Distance Quantity £ to fill MPG

30.07.2011 68.716 565,0 10,56 67,16 53,5

07.07.2011 68.151 369,0 8,14 50,24 45,3

29.04.2011 66.923 225,0 5,28 34,00 42,6

20.04.2011 66.698 473,0 11,00 70,18 43,0

04.04.2011 66.225 461,0 10,78 68,10 42,8

07.03.2011 65.764 334,0 6,60 42,72 50,6

04.03.2011 65.43 222,0 4,84 29,58 45,9

24.02.2011 65.208 344,0 8,36 49,19 41,2

25.01.2011 64.864 433,0 10,12 61,50 42,8

03.01.2011 64.431 469,0 9,90 58,44 47,4

IMO MPG can be as good or as bad as you like regardless of a remap, having said that, prior to the remap my personal best was 50.6mpg and I've now beaten that with a 53.5mpg post remap.

Shark Performance Remap

Hope this helps

Matthew

Have a look at the fuelly link in my sig.

Mine was remapped on 23/12/10.

Have achieved 57+mpg on a tankful.

Averaging 49mpg measured over 20,000 miles.

The only problem is you tend to accelerate harder off of roundabouts and up motorway slip roads, therefore negating the economies you gain on cruise.

I reckon I am 2mpg better off after the remap!

big thanks matthew and andyvee, now we are talking business, matthew all your mpg figures look pretty good for a caravan, i use my car as a cab and although on motorways i can get upto 60 or more, on weekends in town its usually around 45mpg.

apart from shark performance i have also heard of a tech called blue fin, any thoughts on that?

Search within Briskoda, in the Octavia II section, to pinpoint useful information about this subject. It's one of the most popular discussion topics, so you won't be short on reading and information.

There are many reputable companies, Shark Performance being one of the better ones in my opinion.

I've only towed the Caravan about 30miles this year so this years figures are normal everyday driving and with a small trailer on. When Towing the caravan (Pre remap) I got between 28-34mpg, I wont know how much its improved until next year as we are not using the caravan this year.

Filled up tonight and have 51.7mpg from the last tank B)
