Scunnered with door carriers / window regulators

Featured Replies

This is just a rant.

After having both rear doors re-sealed and then a window regulator replaced (at a total cost of four hundred quid if a botched attempt is included) I opened the driver's door to find water on the seal there.

It's totally annoying - mechanically the car has been sound and it's in excellent condition - any other car I'd have punted long before now, but I really like the vRS's combination of comfort, economy and reasonable mid-range performance - not sure what to do!

When you say,'on the seal' do you mean that the rubber was wet? If so that's OK; the drains for the door will make it so. If it is wet inside the ruber seal, then you have a problem.

I opened the door and a flood of water came out the bottom of the door - it was just the outer edge of the seal - front passenger side is bone dry.

The front door foil will need resealing, When you had the rear doors sealed did they reseal both fronts?

No, just the rears.

It was only the drain holes - they were bunged up - which meant after heavy rain water built up, then came out in a deluge when the door was opened, splashing water everywhere (including onto the seals).

Sorted now, so happy again, for the time being B) .

Spotted water again on my seal after sealing with roof and gutter sealant last year. might try the nasty impossible to remove stick to anything polyurethane sealant instead.
