Dealer cost for PD160 intakepipe!Really?

Featured Replies

Hi,

Rang up my local SEAT dealer today looking to get an LCR Splitter and PD160 intake mod. He came back with the following prices:

LCR Splitter: £39

PD160 Trumpet: £19

PD160 Pipe: £79 !!!!!!

£79 for pipe? I thought the PD160 stuff wouldnt cost more than £50. Why the price hike?

Is there anywhere I can get that bit from?

Regards

cause everyone is after them and theyre a business.

A few years ago the complete PD160 intake was around £35. I think SEAT noticed they were becoming popular so hiked up the price. The only way of getting it cheaper is to buy 2nd hand.

Trying to find a second hand one is also like finding rocking horse s h i t e.

Instead of the pipe use some ducting, bit pikey but its effectively doing the same job

theres one on ebay at the moment i noticed the other day

Thanks for the replys. Looks like I might have to stump up and pay full price...

Am rather happy at that I paid £50 for mine  Its almost an INVESTMENT at this rate of price hikes!!!

I work in a building society and thats a better rate than any savings account going :giggle:

I posted on an old thread where someone was looking at alternatives but there were no more replies.

It should be easy to by the bit that clips in and then use a wider pip back to the air box but I don't think anyone has done it.

You could try just using lightweight ducting. It'll need to be squashable to fit airbox end, or cut the end off the existing pipe and crush/clamp it to that. A metre of pipe would be less than a tenner, plus a couple of medium size ducting clamps or large zip-ties.
