Need help with BOV installation!

Featured Replies

Hello there guys,

I just bought a blowoff valve. BOV

I know i should have bought a forge bov splitter but i'll do that next time.

Anyway I need help with the installation. First I installed it this way:

but the problem with this is that when the car is running this moves and with time it will destroy the n249 valve and more.

Ok so here is the original setup:

I was wondering if the following setup would work:

Put the BOV i bought here and remove the hose:

then take the narrow hose from the old recirc valve and put it on top on the BOV:

something like this:

Any advice is very helpful. Thanks!

and one of the car :)

easy fix mate,

Put the std one back on.

by the looks thats an atmospheric one andthey dont only sound crap, but make the turbo work harder to recharge the air and will at some point give you a fault or worse go into limp mode when you dont want to. I had that with the Bailey dv26 iirc.

Your way would work tho If you really want to pop it on.

That suction pipe for the top of the DV is only 5" long and easily replaced, just needs a stiff enough line so it doesnt collaps when it tries to suck the DV piston up to open it.

My exp is the K03s is not big enough for the atmos DVs. you need to gun them all the time to get a reasonable sound from them or else they squeek lol.

good luck with it mate.

let us know how you get on.

Thanks for quick reply sir :)

Yeah, this valve does not show up a fault code but the engine goes silent if I accelerate and then put in neutral right away.

Anyway, how is the sound of the other valves available? Like the forge recirc&bov valve? Because I really like the loud noisy of this valve but I don't want the fault codes showing up.

I know the narrow hose is very short but I was considering buying a longer hose and discard the short one.

Thanks again for your help :)

the main reason you get limp mode and codes is the engine thinks there is a leak as its a closed circuit.

the SplitR is made to limit the air lost to make the noise. TBH tho you get a nice sound with the Bailey DV30 or Forge 007p/Compbrake DVs with the Ebay CAI pipe.

I also found on the DV26 I had it didnt hold the boost the same as the std 710n bosch valve.

have a look on youtube for sounds mate,

You might be lucky and not get a code, might just get them once in a blue moon but that feeling is always there, mine only did it on part throttle going up hill on the cruise control or holding speed with my foot, A way round it might be to disconect the N75? but then you are limiting it to actuator boost i think it is so loosing boost anyway.

Its because the ECU controles the DV in these cars so while your going along and the ecu says there is too much boost it will open the wastgate on the turbo or the DV to keep the preasure smooth and constant, when it then gets readings from the MAF and other sensors in the system saying there is not as much air in the system as came thru the MAF it goes into limp mode as it thinks there is a leak. there isnt one but the ECU doenst knnow that you have the Dump Valve there. If you drive it correctly lol :giggle: you prob wont get them but I cruise most places so got them a few times so took it off.

Ill try get a vid of sound sorted when I go out in a bit.

Put the standard DV back on & install the BOV in the nearest bin.

Thats one place Paul lol

:giggle:

I have some vid Ill just need to upload and fiddle a bit mate n Ill try get it up.

Thats like yours?

BOV are a waste of time and money. Sound sh!te and don't do anything for your turbo. You're more likely to screw it up by the back pressure stalling your compressor wheel.

Forge 007p, Compbrake recirculating valve, APR 'R1'

or a Bailey DV30 is what you need. (idealy one of the first three!)

yup exactly the same mate :)

Iv a forge dv006? Are these just an earlier model of the 007?

not sure mate about the 006, isnt that the diaphram one? where the 007p is piston?

Ive looked at these vids mate and its really hard to hear the DV on them but beleive me you can hear it in the flesh.

dont know how to get it to be a vid in the thread

billy

you need to listen carefully. I tried it with the window open and shut and these are the best I could get, doesnt help with the sound of the zorst n CAI. along with the wind.

this was all in 2nd or 3rd and around 2-3k rpm ish

Atmospheric ****!!!!!! BIN IT!!!!! you need a recirc Forge 007p and stick that atmos **** on egay!!

Far as I know mine is a piston one too buddy
