Honeycomb Grill Insert

There's a picture of one on someone's car in the link you sent

Yes there is, just enquiring as to the quality and is the fit and finish good?

I have the facelift MK2 honeycomb insert from mone and it was mostly fine, needed a TINY amount trimmed off the back (where it is impossible to see anyway) with a stanley blade in order for it to site flush with the bonnet but apart from that it was fine.

Can't comment on the pre-facelift obviously.

...and how did you get around the fact that the bonnet release needs a chunk cutting off it?

Iirc thats exactly what he did, it doesn't affect the operation, but tbh I bon't think I could bring myself to do it...... :o

By cutting a chunk off it! The actual cutting only takes a few seconds with a decent hacksaw, and its still perfectly reachable through the new honeycomb grille.

Sorry mate but that sounds pretty ****. I just hate things that force you to butcher something in order to make it work!

Why not just "slot" the plastic on the grille?

i have fitted this as well.

same as oobster, i cut a few inch off the bonnet release.

that is hardly butchery !!!!

LOL. Got to laugh at some of the attitudes on here sometimes regarding mods.

As bettsy said, it's hardly butchery. Modifying a part that can't be seen unless you are bending down looking through the grill in order to fit a part that ARGUABLT should have been on the car when it was built is butchery?

You carry on with your honeycomb lower grill and mis-matched upper grill then.

Calm down you two! As for attitude to mods - if I was that way inclined I'd hardly have fitted an aftermarket splitter to my 300 mile old car!

My point was that I think it's poor design to have to do something like cut down the bonnet release lever in order to make somethng fit. It's a retrograde step. Personally I actually want one because I think it looks the nuts but there is a part of me that finds the thought of having to cut the lever so unnecessary. It's typical SuperSkoda - close but not quite your expensive Cuban cigar :)

Im going to take a chance and order one, see if I can fit it without cutting the release

I fitted a honeycomb upper grill to my Scout, but rather than butcher the Bonnet catch I cut a slot in the grill and tidied it up with some rubber edging strip, looks just as good and can be restored to original grill at a moments notice if required and saves fiddling around to get the hood open.

These grilles are available with the slot, but postage from Australia could be quite expensive...... :giggle:

Its looks crap imo, why mod just for the sake of it? imo of course

That really doesn't look right - the slot is OK but the material looks so thin and is the wrong profile

And what the Hell does the "P" stand for - Penis?

No, the P stands for 'Project':

A track-focused project car

Skoda Australia has decided to promote the new Octavia RS by creating a track-focused project car.

Dubbed the Octavia RS-P, the wagon features a turbocharged 2.0-liter engine that produces 190 kW (258 hp) and 350 Nm of torque thanks to a retuned ECU module, a three-inch stainless steel exhaust system, and an enlarged air-filter.

To help bring it to a stop, the RS-P is outfitted with massive 355mm front and 310mm rear brake discs that are backed up by grippy Yokohama ADVAN tires. Other performance upgrades include reinforced front and rear strut-braces, fully adjustable dampers, and a rear suspension cross-brace.

Exterior styling is subtlety aggressive as the car features attractive honey-comb grilles, black 18-inch alloy wheels, green brake calipers, and discrete RS-P badging.

I was only saying....... :'( :p

I do agree, it looks pants but you get my point, is the SS one that much better quality though?

im not a big fan of the honey comb upper grill but on this one it might be better if pic was taken a lil further back (slot for bonnet release is silly looking good god!!!!!!!
