Hi

Where are you?

I have a CAN gateway for sale

http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/210190-7n0-907-530-can-gateway/

North East Eddie. Should definitely buy yours though; bargain - should have bought that version from you at its current price! ;)

If you come a bit further south Martin, there's people in the North West who can help you out :)

ive tried the columbus rn510 head unit in works no bother apart from having no steering wheel controls but when i left the car for a couple of hours came back unlocked the car no key put in the ignition i could here the head unit makin a noise like it cooling fan was operating ive been to to dealer say that i need to ask a question about a canbus gateway up grade they think im talking rubish so i need some help please martin

Fan operation on the Columbus can be normal. This has been tested by other members.

Which CAN gateway revision do you have fitted currently?

What was the dealer's response? I don't really understand what you've typed, sorry.

It is an 05 Steve, it will be a rev F at the best - it will need replacing. My 2006MY manufactured in 08/2006 had a Rev F.

Motorman - have you left the car overnight yet since fitting the Columbus?

When I fitted the Bolero I thought i had got away with it as I left the car for about 6 hours and it started fine.

The first time I left it 14 hours though - flat battery!!!

don't no about which canbus ive got is the unit under the glovebox but to be fobbed of by 2 skoda dealer say that u can't update your canbus gateway they said change the 2 live wires round so will have alook tomorrow and see which canbus ive got if it needs changing i'll have to look else were as dealer don't want 2 no

In my experience, most dealers have limited experience of retrofitting items, or upgrading components. So you may end up being supplied with the wrong information (that you can't do something, or that it isn't possible).

You will need a CAN gateway update; I'd advise Revision AD to be sure of avoiding any potential problems. And then have your car coded up correctly, by a local member with VCDS. Whereabout are you located?

North East somewhere form the first post.

Don't swap any wires about unless you want to fry something!

I wouldn't go anywhere near that dealer again with daft advice like that!

Get a new gateway off of ebay from carsystems.pl and then get it all coded up correctly by a knowledgeable person with VCDS.
