3 spoke muti function steering wheel

Featured Replies

Added this to my order today, I assume its very similar to the VW Golf wheel and if so I'll be happy.

I figured it was worth the £150 as I would probably use it every time I was in the car.:)

Is this money well spent or is the 4 spoke adequate, the 4 does appear bigger?

Both wheels have the same diameter.

The three spoke is 'sporty' with traditional bulges near your thumbs and IMHO a more comfortable feel.

Multi function bits are really useful and, yes, I use them every trip.

Good choice.

I'd advocate the 3 spoke one, really feels like the best steering wheel I have ever used, as mentioned above the thumb ridges are superb, I have the 3 spoke non MFSW in my VRS and the MFSW in the Yeti, joyous things to hold. One thing is that the improve with age, ie the oils from your palms slowly smoothing the leather, so they improve with age. The MFSW is so good, I'd have that on every car from now on.

I had the 4 spoke MFSW on my Yeti and then retro fitted a vRS flappy paddle MFSW with perforated leather, which I prefer, whereas the Yeti 3 spoke is smooth leather.

My Yeti has the three spoke wheel as well and I too find it very comfortable to use. The controls are very easy to reach and operate. I think its well worth the price.

There is a picture of the three spoke wheel in the first post in this thread

The 4 spoke is also very comfortable to use and the switches are in exactly the same position, or very similar.

I only changed mine so I could have the flappy paddles, which are only available with the 3 spoke MFSW.

One desenting voice here; don't like the plastic section at the bottom of the rim on the three spoke. Spent my cash on more useful kit like the front sensors and heated screen.

However every one has their own preferences.

Regards,

TP

I figured this was the one option not to get as I dont consider the Yeti to be a sports car, and I aleady have a sports car! Also i must not spend more money on any more options as its addictive....aaaaargh! :D

The plastic bit at the bottom of the Yeti 3 spoke is not so nice, the VW Golf has a cut out here and finnished in brushed alloy, much nicer. The wheel is possibly one of the best if not best I've used hence adding the option to the SM.

Yeti more of a Golf GTi than a Golf GTi, with the 4x4 & CR170/ 1.8TSI (or a remapped CR140). But yes. Not a sports car like Caterham or an Elise etc...

You can see photos of the wheel here:

Our Golf V5 has a three spoke. I hate it. I'm used to hooking my hands there from time to time so constantly go there to hook my hands in to find nothing! :giggle: It is of course just a personal preference and goes with what you are used to and how you drive. Functionally the three spoke works like any other Yeti steering wheel.

From the pictures I have satisfied myself that the 3 Spoke wheel is the same as the VW Golf MF except no cut-out and brushed alloy.

The 3 spoke wheel on the Octavia vRS has a small alloy vRS plate in the bottom spoke nestling in the recess.

I wonder if this can be bought separately and whether it would fit a Yeti 3 spoke wheel.

Rockhopper;- do you have this in your S-wheel?

The three spoke steering wheel looks good, I am condiering swapping mine, I am particularly attracted by the "thumb ridges"

Superskoda is selling a Yeti footprint plate to be placed on thicker spoke, might enhance the look if you want some chrome.

Sorry to hi-jack this thread, Lok - how do you find the 1.2 and 1.4, which is better? quieter etc?

In short, 1.4 engine is better, lower consumption.. quiter. Pulls much better than 1.2

But, 1.2 TSI is price/performance king..

Brill, thanks for the comparison, will make a note when the time comes to change.

There needs to be a VRS version of the Yeti, then we could get that logo on the steering wheel.

OH yes!!!!! I'd have one in vRS blue for sure. I vote for the Audi 2,5 five cylinder engine to go with it as well!!! But it must have DSG.

.... or you could just buy an Audi Q3? :giggle:

Interetingly the Tiguan comes in a "VRS" version called the R-Line 4Motion with the CR170 engine. A Scout VRS CR170 would be very very nice too. Keep on dreaming boys.

NO thanks. It looks like an escaped Gherbil that thing with that sloped rear window and HUGE front overhang. Nope.

My Yeti 3 spoke MFSW earlier - I got the only current 'Yeti' footprint from Superskoda :)

How is the footprint attached?

I presume you have to stamp really hard :giggle:
