Well, Im well on my way to my first full year of Fabia ownership and as a result I have nearly come to the end of my first years free road tax.

My renewal came through from the DVLA and it is £20 for the year!:dance: I thought it was going to be £30 for a year!!! :giggle:

A nice surprise.

Definate £30 think they have made mistake may be it's the bhp though mine is 105

No...it's £20 per year for the 105 & 90ps 1.6CR or £0 for the 1.6CR 75ps engine. Good eh! But, makes me feel I'm being ripped off paying £30 per year for my 1422cc PD 80ps estate...but I'm getting my own back by driving it more than usual on the roads tee hee! but only when they are not looking! emoticon-0102-bigsmile.gif

So why I am I paying £90 on my 1.4tdi 3 cylinder 70 bhp and you only pay £30 seems crazy

Because of its CO2 output?

Because of its CO2 output?

Would there be less co2 in a 80 rather than a 70 bhp?

Look up your car's CO2 using the DVLA online checker.

The CR105 puts out 109g, putting it in Band B and therefore £20 annually.

I'd guess that because your 1.4 is the older unit, older PD-based tech and therefore less efficient. So you pay more tax.

That explains it then £110 for 2 cars ain't that bad ;)

Hi Seb...yep, the 1422cc PD 70ps produces more CO2 than the 80ps. So it's in the next band up for Road Tax. Shame. emoticon-0101-sadsmile.gif

I might be getting rid soon, both of them really vision d or octavia?

75hp 1.6 is same CO2/tax as the 90/105hp cars

I stand corrected...thanks Whitelighter. emoticon-0144-nod.gif

Seb...this is shock horror stuff! Do you just need the extra space?

Am I happy with the fabia's ?, in a nutshell NO!, why well on long distance travel I do find the fabia a little harsh, the headlights are awful, build quality not as good as the other skodas, my superb was just that superb!, the octavia I would say is the best car skoda makes, for running around these twisty roads the fabia is good but to be honest it's no better than the octavia in the bends, I will keep for another twelve months to 2 years the get rid!, I will either look at the octavia or vision d or dare I say it the Nissan leaf or similar and an old octavia for long distance travel :(

Yep, you have to go with whatever is best for you. emoticon-0144-nod.gif

Total road tax for our fleet is £115 p.a. for 281BHP. Fabia Elegance 1.6 TDI CR 105 (104 bhp) = £20, BMW 320D SE Efficient Dynamics (177 bhp)= £95 - if we had the latest model it would be the same price as the Fabia!

It's a ridiculous situation really, as all cars driven in the real (rather than test) world probably poke out far more than the stated gms/km, and far less than the stated combined mpg.
