D'oh - PD170 isn't BKD - BKD is PD140 isn't it.

Yeah BKD wont have a sensor, doesnt have a DPF

Any thoughts - is it as cut and dried as the sensor is dead and I need a new one?

I found the three EGT sensor connectors in the bay. If my wire tracing is right it looks like sensor 1 is furthest away from the engine and sensor 3 is right after the turbo. Does that sound right?

Engine code is BMN Nick.

Engine code is BMN Nick.

Yup, realised that after :)

When I unplugged the connector to sensor and cleared the codes, the same code came back "Short to Plus". That's to be expected right?

Thinking about it yes, that's logical.

If you unplug it and test, what error message do you get?

If it's still a short to plus it's a wiring fault, if it is something else, then it does sound like a short in the sensor.

Tried unplugging one of the other EGT sensors which also yielded short to plus.

This is the part no 06A919529D (previously 06A919529B)

That's the one for a BAM 1.8T isn't it?

that part number only applies to a audi TT/A3/beetle???????

nick i've pm'd you back

Cool. Thanks a lot for that. Looks like it's the one between the engine and the turbo that's gone (black connector). Looks like I mis-traced the wire - I thought it was going to the downpipe.

Brown connector is Exhaust Gas Temp Sensor 2 Bank 1 (G448)

Orange connector is Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensor 3 (P145D)

Confirmed - just went out to the car park, retraced the wire from the black connector and it goes to the manifold.

One G235 sensor supplied and fitted at Shark Performance this evening after work. Problem solved. Thanks Ben. :)

Holy thread revival batman!

Nick, I know this was a good few years ago but do you remember how much the G235 sensor was?

I'm about to instruct my local garage to order and replace a faulty one on my Scout, just curious whether it's going to be tens or hundreds of pounds!!

Sorry - I didn't notice this at the time, but I think it was a ~£100 thing. How much did it cost you?
