Bit of help gents please ...

54 plate Elegance tdi, currently runing with ABS/TC lights on even after the offending hub was changed.

On the way to work today I noticed the battery light flashing randomly, random revs, random throttle position.

I turned the radio off ... and then noticed an engine noise which I can only describe as sounding like an angry mapgie (!) which is coming from the area down behind the drivers headlight. This noise isn't constant, and occurs with clutch in, clutch out and also when I've been cruising in a fixed gear for a few miles.

Performance seems unchanged, not sure about fuel consumption as the ABS issue has sent the trip computer wonkey donkey and it now reads mpg at half the actual figure.

Help ! :'(

Alternator bearing failure, whole thing needs replacing before it seizes and snaps the belt.
