Micra - Whats it worth - Anyone in the trade help ?

Featured Replies

Hope its OK to post this, its not a forsale post.

A member of the family passed away recently & the family have to dispose of the contents of the house etc.

Sat on the drive is a W reg Micra 998 cc I think. Its in generally good nick but has never been garaged so would benefit from a good valet etc, a few chips etc but no dents or scraped corners. Now the part thats making valuation difficult, its done under 15000 miles.

Its some distance from my house & a couple of localls have expressed an interest so just wondering whats a fair price. Apart from its annual trip for a mot it hasnt been used for at least the last 2 years so is bound to have a few niggles.

I was considering around a grand, how does that sound. Ive seen one with similar mileage with a dealer 2600 but that had been polished up & ones with average mileage are 5-600.

Can anyone with a bit of knowledge care to offer any advice

Costs? Full service,new brakes,Battery,Brake fluid,possible new exhaust,and new Mot.

I'd give it a good polish and E-bay it as is.

I would guess at you'd get bid somewhere between £500-£700 in the trade so privately should make £1000-1,200 and on a forecourt I'd expect it to make £1,700-£2,100.

The really low mileage doesn't really a HUGE difference since people aren't worried about buying a Micra that has done 50,000 or even 80,000 miles or even more.

Cheers

For peace of mind to make sure its safe I will get a fresh MOT as not long left on it & then let it go around a grand

My daughter in law bought a V reg one two years ago from a dealer for £800, 50k and full MOT.

The low mileage would actually put me off -as the car has sat around for most of it's life, this IMO is worse than a well maintained high mileage car.

Things to watch out for are everything made from rubber (tyres, hoses, belts and bushes) as these could well all be perishing through lack of use.
