Replace clutch and gearbox

Hi guys,

I've had my brand new Octavia for 6 weeks and for the past 3 weeks it has been in the shop replacing the gearbox and the clutch.

For the first 250 km there were no problems (in hindsight there was a slight scratch when putting it in reverse but I ignored it).

After making the longest trip yet (210 km) on the highway at ~140 kph always in 5th gear, the 4th gear wouldn't enter when arriving at the toll booths.

The 3rd gear did enter, and after a few miles the 4th gear entered again but there was no 5th gear.

After stopping I discovered that the 1st and 3rd gears were also gone and had to park it as best I could using only the 2nd gear and the reverse.

After a few minutes the 1st gear entered again but there were no 2nd or 3rd gears.

The tow truck call was inevitable.

As far as they were able to inform me in the garage, there was a gearbox problem that also caused the cluth to malfunction forcing the replacement of the two components.

I have since made a 250km journey and the car worked perfectly.

I am wondering if this has happenned to anyone else or if anybody can give more details as to what was wrong with the gearbox to screw the clutch with it.

For reference it is a Skoda Octavia Break Elegance 1.6 TDI-105 CV with a manual gearbox.
