Only trouble with that is the flashing orange light on the dash pod is annoying

Thats true!!! but its worth it :)

How can the drive be any different unless you are driving on the edge of traction where the system would then kick in?

Doesn't it turn itself back on above 40mph?

I assume you mean the ESP button as I don't have a Traction Control button

When you turn it off it comes up on the screen saying traction control system disabled...think its the same as ESP....

I always switch ESP off in deep snow conditions ,it makes a big difference in grip and the direction you are going.

I don't have ESP (thank goodness, no Teves MK60 controller failure to look forward to!), I have the earlier ASR based on the Teves MK70.

This does not turn itself back at any speed, I just wish there was a way to have it turned off by default when starting the car!

I agree, the pull away from standstill is smoother with it turned off. I have had it kick in well before any sign of wheel spinning from a standing start, and it even kicks in if I accelerate hard up hills in 2nd gear, which makes the car weave and the front end bounce around.

I have had various forms of TC on previous cars, and this is the most aggressive I have come across so far!

when engaging in a bit of spirited driving i always turn the esp off, it just holds the car back too much and spoils the handling imho.

if you think the skoda system is aggressive try driving a vectra , my old sri 150 (y plate ) was terrible if you tried to pull out of a junction fast it almost stalled the car, at least you can get going with the skoda.
