How/Where to position Parrot control

Featured Replies

Hi all,

As the title suggests, I've got a Parrot MK6000 to fit in my 2005 Fabia VRS.

Ideally, I want to position the remote centrally above the radio where the switches for the ASC etc are.

My panel is configured: Left heated seat - blank - blank - ASC - heated window - heated right seat

Basically, I want to budge the ASC switch to the left and replace it with a blank switch cover so I can drill through the centre of the 2 blanking plates and position the Parrot centrally.

Can this be done? If not, where do I position it without seeing any wires?

Any suggestions how to fix it to the console without using velcro? I just don't like it, I think it looks messy.

Also, I have a Brodit holder for my phone which has a fag lighter socket to power the phone. Can I just chop this off and wire it into the fusebox or will this blow up my phone when I plug it in?

Thanks in advance for any help given.

Hi Robbo

I have got the Parrot ck3100 so I am not sure what your bracket looks like but I would think it is similar, but I have moved the switches around( although I have not got heated seat switches) and on one of the blanks I have cut a small grove for the cables to come through, and then forced the mounting bracket into the air vent, and it has been there over twelve months now and does not move.

Also re the power for the phone, what I would do is get a cheap three way socket like:-

http://www.towsure.com/product/12_Volt_Car_Cigar_Lighter_Triple_Socket_Adaptor

cut the plug off and wire this into the fuse box, and then hide up under the dash, or mount under the dash so you have spare sockets.

But re the question of cutting off the plug as you ask, I would not as some plugs have a voltage regulator built in and only supplies

something like 5 volts to charge the phone (depends on the phone) so in that case if you wired 12 volts direct to the phone, yes it would blow it up as you say !

Thanks Radiotwo,

Do you know how I can get the centre console up where the handbrake is? I plan to get a cheap exension as you say and wire it to the cigarette lighter live as it's the closest and I'm no electrical expert!

How do I move the switches above the radio?

Cheers

Basically, there is no bracket - it's just a round control dial that sits on your dash

Hi Again

To get the centre console up, you take out the rear ash tray and there is two (I think) screws in there, and if you look under the handle of the brake arm you will see a separate piece of plastic, pull that up and there is a screw under that.

and to move the switches, just pull out of dash, unplug the wires from the back of the switch, move the wires to where you want it, and re-plug back into the switch.

Thank you so much for your help. Mission accomplished. I will post photos when I've finished all the other restorations...
