'The Lifesaver' !!

Ah yes, the lifesaver. I used to teach this several years ago. We instructors had great fun with it. First we would teach it by getting the students to look in their mirrors, then creep up on them out of sight and touch their shoulder - most jumped out of their skin because they couldn't see us. emoticon-0140-rofl.gif

Then when out on the road we would again demonstrate it, by riding alongside them in their blind spot and talk to them over the radio, and then get then to do a 'lifesaver' so they could see in practice what it was like.

Students all seemed to have different interpretations of what we taught, which was chin to shoulder. The funniest, and I still see it on the roads, are 16-18 year olds twisting their whole bodies round so they can look behind them. That is what a mirror is for emoticon-0136-giggle.gif, the lifesaver was just a quick sweep through the mirror into the blind spot, chin to shoulder, (no body movement) and back through the mirror then manoeuvre.

No problems with this on Elsie thus equipped.....or even through the rear offside window on acute junctions - had more problems when using my previous method of jacket on the hook or using the hook in the grab handle above the rear offside passenger door.

Got exactly the same fitted to my SM never had a problem with it obscuring my view. A lot better than using the hook on the 'b' pillar plus you don't have the problem of the hoop in your jacket eventually breaking.

I've not yet had a problem with it blocking my view either. emoticon-0148-yes.gif

Having seen these, I splashed out and bought one. I want my jackets to retain their shape.....

Here are some photos of my old jacket that has lost sits shape....

Does the shape of the owner affect the shape of the jacket?

If so - no coat hanger will make any difference!
