Felicia Ignition Trouble

Featured Replies

Hi. New member here. I gather from my googling (which is how I found Briskoda) that this is far from a new topic, but also discovered that the link to comrehensive advice on this, given on several threads, is broken.

The whole sorry story is detailed in my introductory posting in the new members section, but the current situation is that we have engine starting via a button, but NO headlights, wipers or blower fan. I thought we had no indicators but we do have (phew! at least I can go out in the day if it's not raining!).

The steering lock seems now to be totally inoperational. Thats not a problem, don't really care if it doesn't function. But we are back to square one and cannot decide if a new ignition barrel will fix things, or do we need a complete ignition assembly? Any idea which way we need to go on this?

Have been looking at a new ignition kit for sale for approx £63. But it says it must be recoded to function. An expensive trip to the Skoda main dealer or is there another way round this recoding thing? If it is just to do with steering lock/immobiliser I can live without it. Don't think a 12-y-o tatty Felicia is high on many car thieves shopping list!!

Would be very grateful for any advice on this problem. Thank you.

You won't find anybody willing to help you bypassing the immobiliser...

Ok it does sound like your ignition switch is knackered to be honest, they are fairly tricky to remove from the steering column because you need to drill out the sheer bolts to get it out...

If you wanted to do a hard core pikey bodge you could just disconnect it from the ignition switch and wire it up through a toggle switch mounted on the dashboard, the immo would still work in this case too, just put the key in the knackered barrel so the sensor ring still picks up the signal from the key
