Featured Replies

Hi all My 2.0 vrs 07 with 71,000 is telling me it needs a service I have only done 10,000 miles ish since the last service,is it better to put the car on a 10,000 mile service not using the longlife oil??as far as i can tell is on a variable service plan, also sould i get the plugs done ,which ones are the bet to get??

The dealer may have set you to fixed at the last service - a common trick by some poor dealers. Or if self serviced and reset by the dash, this reverts it to fixed. Someone with VCDS can check for you.

Some derv engines still need longlife oil.

Hi, I had this earlier in the year. I have a TDi 140 pd which is on long life servicing, serviced at 20k and 40k as instructed by the car. However earlier this year the service light came on at 49k, I was a little concerned but booked the car in as normal. When it went in the dealer came clean that they had "accidentally" reset to fixed servicing on the previous service and that this mistake was easy to make due to the operation of the equipment they have. Give them due they reset the servicing to variable and sent me home to wait for the proper interval (now done 59k and not come up yet)

however as an aside I'm not keen on running an oil burner for 20k between services so I give it an interim oil change between services (10k, 30k, 50k etc) which is still cheaper than fixed servicing and I get those all important stamps.
