Turbo rattle?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Picked my first fabia vrs diesel the other day & I've noticed that there is a loud rattle / whistle coming from the turbo when pulling from roughly 2k to about 3 - might this be a sign that the turbo may be on the way out??

The rattle sound is intermittent (sometimes it does it sometimes it doesn't) but when it does it's very worrying & I actually have to drown it out with music

I have the car booked in for a remap on Friday but wondering if I should take it to skoda to be looked at before I do just in case as they could fix it under my 1 year warranty

Does anyone else know of this??

Definatley, if it's bought from the main dealer don't accept anything they give/tell you until you are happy that the turbo is working 100%.

I would probably wait and see what skoda say before getting it re-mapped, wouldn't want to break terms and cons of the warranty :-/ (not that it made a difference for me, but, better to be safe than sorry)

Definitely get it booked into Skoda before you map the car.

Any reputable tuner wouldn't map a car that has a whining turbo that sounds like it's on its way out anyway.

Thanks chaps, I'll contact the tuner.

Thing I'm worried about is the rattle etc is intermittent, any ideas why?
