Heated windscreen

Featured Replies

Hi All

I'm about to order a Yeti and would like the heated windscreen option. I'm wondering if the screening effect of the wires will reduce the signal level to my Mio satnav. Any help would be greatfully received.

Welcome

This has been discussed many times before.

The only windscreens that effect sat navs's are the renault type what are coated.

I use an iPhone in my SM withe heated windscreen with no problems and nobody on here yet has reported any problems.

The only 'issue' if you can call it that is in low direct sunlight you can see the heater wires, but for most people with this option, we are prepared to put up with this slight inconvenience.

+1 to all of this - and should you happen to use an electronic pass for French motorways, as I do, that isn't affected by the heated windscreen either!

I asked the same question before buying Elsie and got reassurances from the forum

Now Elsie is here I can confirm that there is no issue with satnav at all.

The only time you notice the wires in screen are with raking sunlight or oncoming headlights.

Only got Elsie in June so no chance to test just how effective the heated screen is yet --BUT --my daughter has similar screen on her car and cannot praise it enough. She says that as soon as the frosts come you will know it is money well spent

I have been getting a lift from a friend of mine on occasions for over a year now. Only about two weeks ago did I actually notice that the windscreen was heated with the wires. It really is not an issue as the light has to hit the windscreen at the right angle for it to be noticeable. When I change my Yeti in 11 months time it will be the first thing on my options list.
