312mm Brakes...

Featured Replies

Hi All,

Im usually found on SCN but hoping for a little bit of VAG support here :p

Has anybody done the "big brake conversion" to 312mm on their fabias using a A4 as a doner ? 1996 plate.

I undertand discs are a different PCD 112 x 5 and I require 100 x 5 But the calipers and carriers should be the same? I'm fitting these to a 2006 Ibiza FR TDI hopefully after getting them for a good price.

Still waiting for delivery so cant confirm just yet :(

Thank you!

I was under the impression the holes in the carrier didn't line up and were therefor no good. Iv yet to hear anyone successfully do it anyway.

Oh dear, so are you saying the carrier is no good or will the caliper work with the correct carrier ?

I'm pretty certain that the caliper is the same, it's the carrier that is different, and that is the difficult bit to get hold of on its own.

Nope.

Caliper and carrier are both different on the 5x112 version.

Gotta be the 5x100 setup im afraid.

Thats a shame not to worry will have to just resell the A4 brakes and get them right this time! Thanks for your input

sorry to jump in, but what is a realistic price to be looking at for a full 312mm conversion, a bloke i met the other day has a set off of his octavia and all he said was make me an offer :S

Cheers

I was very lucky on Ebay, so not that realistic!

used discs and pads still going 12k later too!

Thanks for the pic nice refurb on them :)

Carrier looks the same shape! I assume you've fitted these now so you could t measure stud pattern ?

Can't take credit for the refurb.

Or for fitting them for that matter :p

They were bought that way. I just painted them.

Not sure what you mean about stud pattern?

Distance between the bolt holes as per your pic?

Is that something I can measure with them on the car?

Doubt it would be easy with it on the ground, as the disk would be in the way. If you can get behind the disk you should be OK.

If someone could measure the gap on the standard carriers cos that`ll be the same. The gap on gerr`s look wider than the other set to me.

Matt

standard carriers are 10.6cm same as the ones you've got, just went and measured mine as I've converted mine to 312mm last week
