Octavia is a World Record Holder!

"Modified" is the key word here. Pointless in the real world but good publicity for the company and a chance for the engineers to play. Presumably they can now also tour this car around various car shows.

I have been watching this for a few days now. Good effort Skoda UK et al. It is surprisingly fairly standard compared to most machines out there - standard block etc. I know it has 8 injectors and a very large turbo and a greenline gearbox.....etc etc.

That VW block is really quite a tough old unit. emoticon-0136-giggle.gif

I know, johann, that's where I got it from.

Thought I would post it in this forum to highlight it as many do not browse the other forums :p

Thats right....they google Yeti and come up with us and often don't venture off the Yeti forum. emoticon-0118-yawn.gif

You'll find that figure quoted in the link in my original post I think. :p :giggle:

Oops. When I did the original post it had only done 202mph. And the 227 one only just now came up in my RSS feed. :giggle:

Back pedalling only works on a fixed wheel bicycle :D

From the original press release....

On Friday 19 August at 07:45am, a ŠKODA Octavia vRS officially became the world's fastest 2.0-litre supercharged production car in the world when the 600 bhp ‘salt spec’ racer – built to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the iconic vRS performance flagship badge – registered a Southern California Timing Association (SCTA) sanctioned speed of 227.070 mph on Utah’s legendary Bonneville Salt Flat

Technology can be a wonderful thing.

Very impressing!

Now, how fast is the fastest Yeti ?

I have 172 km/h on GPS, the speedo said almost 180 :-)

But I guess on the German Autobahn or other fast roads

the Yeti should be able to do 20-30 km/h more?

Mine is a 140 HP 4x4 DSG with no remapping or tuning ( yet )

cheers

otto

195 km/hr on Garmin GPS - 210 on speedo, but not at the same time. Both in Germany on little travelled Autobahn in dry weather. At the 210, Snehvide seemed to want to keep on going - but I had enuf.
