I would worry about a brick or something smashing it off.....& as you have to change the oil filter anyway,(which is the messiest part) I don't think I'll bother.

But I'd be interested to hear if anyone on here is using one & what they think of it.

As it sticks out horizontally on the 1.8t,it seems all the old oil can't come out, because the inner bore of the Fumoto sits higher than the drain hole.I can't see myself that much old oil would be left trapped behind if the front of the car was raised.

I think if your sump got hit by a brick hard enough for that to brake off then that broken off would be the least of your worries lol.

I think this is a product for a problem that should of never existed.

I am surprised its not made by JML, they sell rubbish that you only use once.

Not sure I'd trust it either. I suck my oil out of the top anyway

I dont mind a bit of oil on my hands. Part of the fun isnt it? :)

talk about engineering something for the sake of it, whats wrong with using a spanner on the sump plug the old fashioned way??

Nice solution for a problem that does not exist.

If you can't replace a sump plug without stripping the thread then should you really be let loose with a set of spanners/sockets anyway? :giggle:

I guess the only advantage is with the design that can have a hose attached. Straight in to the container, no mess. Still agree that it is a product for the sake of it though.

Hmmm...Not sure i would trust that. I can imagine a piece of debris flicking up off the road and magically turning the valve :smirk:

Unless your dad went out in your car prior and didn't tell you so you end up getting extremely hot oil on yourself because you under estimate the distance the oil would come out.

I'm sticking to the traditional sump plug thanks. It would be real easy for 'Joe Bloggs' to drop the oil out of your engine for a laugh while your car is in the car park. Not a practical joke I want to be apart of.

Who would be checking sump plugs on the off chance that they were one of the 0.1% of the people in the UK to be using one of these valves?! :p

Not to mention most cars will still have the OE undertray on.

Don't shoot, was only saying! Most of the plonkers who buys these things are the type who brag about their non-mess oil changes. I know I would do it to them as they would deserve it. Bloody anoraks :giggle:

Also my vRS doesn't have a full length undertray fitted.
