£50k garage - 3-10 cars

Featured Replies

Following from discussion on the "cars you like" and "rare cars", it might be a good kind of game to see what you would put in your imaginary £50k garage (ie what would you get instead of a new BMW 5 series), there are not many rules:

1) No right or wrong, literally anything you want to put in it (tanks and ex-MOD included, no planes though)

2) Please include the use of the car and explanation of choice

3) Has to be between 3 and 10 cars

4) You don't have to spend the whole £50k, it's fine if you don't, but please don't say what you are going to do with it

5) You can include modifications on any cars you like, but please be realistic on price and actual gains

6) You can mention a car more than once, if you really like the Isetta Bubble car you can opt for 10 of those

7) Maintenance is imaginary but could be your explanation

8) It could be brand new or second hand (again please be realistic on the second hand values! autotrader, classiccasforsale and carandclassics being the obvious candidates to check prices)

9) It does not have to include a Skoda, but being a Skoda Forum, it could also be all Skodas!

Mine would be:

1) Morgan 4/4 1.6 1980's - £15000 - Classic, depreciation free fun, great summer fun

2) Land Rover 90 3.5 V8 mid-80's - £4500 - Go anywhere with brilliant Rover V8, perfect for winter

3) Mercedes CL500 2005 - £13000 - Luxury and Carrying 3 passengers, all year round

4) Skoda Superb Estate 1.6 TDI SE - £17000 - Loadhugger and Economical, all year round

5) Toyota Corolla 1.6 1997-98 - £500 - Economical runabout, perfect banger

Total spend: £50,000.

So, what's yours?

4) You don't have to spend the whole £100k, but if you don't then fine, but please don't say what you are going to do with it

So, what's yours?

If it's £50k:

1) BMW M3 (E30) Sport Evolution (the last one made) must be concourse condition - £25k?

2) Audi RS6 Avanti best I could get for the remainder left from the purchase of the M3

Woops, obviously £100k was on my mind, but its £50k

1. My current car, worth about £5k. Make it silly fast whilest looking standard, spend about £8k on it. Total £13k

2. late 90's Defender 110 with 4.6L Rover V8 and Lara Croft Tombe Raider Spec. Say £25k

3. 2006-2010 Jeep GC 6.1L V8. Super fast, super thirsty load lugger. Off the shelf performance packs up to 800bhp. Prices from £15k.

Oops I've gone over by 3k.

1 Mk1 Octavia est td1 £2500 Workhorse ( already got it )

2 Land Rover Disco 3 G4 spec £25,000. to cope with the flake of snow we get B)

3 Merc E63 Est £22.500 To keep Lynz happy

1) Audi RS4 Avant 2.7 BiTurbo - £15,000 - Big, Sporty Family wagon with attitude.

2) Toyota Supra MK IV (Single Turbo Conversion) - £15,000 - Well, I'd buy one just for the noise really lol.

3) MK2 Escort RS2000 - Between £10,000 & £20,000 depending on spec - For weekends away in forest rallies for some good old RWD action!

I'm jealous of what I've written about now lol.

Skoda Superb 3.6 V6 DSG Elegance - 30k with a few options.

My Cee'd (5k) - Economical and safe.

Volvo S80 4.4 V8 (15k) - because it just sounds mad!!

Two possibilities...

Sell my current car for 12k giving me 62k

1: Nissan GTR

OR

1: My Car and spend 5k on it - 17k

2: Mazda RX-7 (modified with race suspension/geometry setup) - 15k

3: Lotus Exige S2 - best I could get for 18k

That is all

Damo

Hmmm

1> Keep the Octy but tweak it up but not too much £2k

Nowt wrong with it, the first (and probably the only )car I've ever owned from new

2> A used A6 2.7tdi Quattro Avant SE (not the the SLine or Le Mans) £15k

I love a big car, lots of space for moving the wee man's stuff and the SE isn't as harsh as the SLine or Le Mans

3>Used Land Rover Defender 110 Station wagon £10k

SWMBO is scared of driving in the snow. Well no more.

4>Used Triumph Speed Triple £5k

Bonkers, I love 'em, especially in florescent snot green

5>Used BMW R1200RT £5k

Nice big comfy shaft driven tourer for longer runs.

£3k left for fixing 'em

Here we go:

1) Jaguar XF 2.7 Diesel ~ £24k

This would be my daily run about - plenty of luxury and nice engine to boot!

2) Range Rover 4.4L Vogue or Autobiography ~ £20k B)

For when the weather turns bad and also to tow option 3 (if I can have option 3 as it's not a car!)

3) Laser Dart 16 Cat ~ £5k

Not truly a car but it will come on a trailer :giggle:

The blue oval would feature in mine. Would have to include a concours Capri 280 Brooklands (£15k), mk1 Escort Mexico (£5k), Mk5 Cortina 2.0 Ghia (£3k), Ford Consul 3000GT in bronze (mk1 Granada Sweeney, about £3k), a Lada Riva estate (for comedy effect, at around a grand), a Skoda 135 RiC (£1-2k), and my Felly Magic restored to concours.

You can get a good (maybe even a bit modded) Skyline R34 GT-R for £25k, an Octy A4 PD130 for under £5k including 312s and remap, which should leave more than enough for a Citroen CX Loadrunner (the 6-wheeled version the French used to use for national overnight distribution of the Paris papers). If I've enough change, maybe I'll add a Triumph Vitesse mk2.

I'd probably spend £20k on a 535d Sport Auto Touring, £15k on a Ariel Atom, and £15k on an M3 Drop top.

5,000 on a runabout/shopping trolley - fabia vrs

15,000 - 20,000 on a mahoosive 7 seat SUV as a family bus, either used XC90/Disco 3 if I was brave or a Hyundai Sante Fe (in warranty) if I'm not.

The remainder, 25,000 - 30,000, on something vaguely practical (min. of a 2+2) but rather fast along the lines of M3, 911 or even a 456. My money wouldn't stretch to a decent Mazzer QP or Conti GT :(
