Can you up power on 140 tdi 4x4 DSG wthout problems ?

Featured Replies

I currently drive a 170 CR tdi DSG Superb Hatch and have a Combi 170CD 4x4 on order. I would really like the DSG box, but this it not available with the 170 engine in 4x4 guise, ony the 140 CR. Has anyone taken a 140 4x4 DSG and re-mapped it to provide more power/torque or is this not recommended due to the combination of 4x4 and DSG with the Skoda engine installation ?

As far as I know this is a good way to spend money.

Our local dealer officially suggests MTM tuning for these matters.

Drive ~5tkm and get a remap. Simple as that.

Although I'd like to see a direct remap to 205HP, rather.

Remember that VW Passat has a 2.0TDI DSG 4x4 at 170HP available. This might be another hierarchy issue.

Thanks

My understanding is that the Skoda installation of the engine is different from the Audi/VW installation East/West versus North/South (or vice versa) and was wondering whether this had any bearing on torque or power handling capability of the Skoda Configuration.

I have done it with a unichip. BHP up to around 165 (difficult to see on the rolling road as the DSG keeps changing gear!) and torque is well up too. I have done 4k miles with it and absolutely no issues. I am getting high 40s in mpg - it helps with that too!

As far as I can see for Superb II MY2010-> they don't have a product for 140 4x4, just front.

Too bad it's not possible to just flash software anymore ...

Thanks

The current Passat isn't North/South anymore is it? Thought it went over to an East/West installation at the last big model change in 2005/6 so I agree it's probably more likely VW don't want Skoda trampling on any(more) sales with a direct competitor.

Thanks

Hardly - I think the parts are so unified that it really doesn't matter which badge it is as underneath it's still the same...

I'm relying on my dealers/tuners confirmation that the drive doesn't matter - be it front or Haldex. The same engine - both can be tuned up to 170PS.
