Frankfurt Motor Show etc (no Paris this year)

Featured Replies

Frankfurt Motor Show - Any rumours other than L&K Superb and new Rapid (just for India sub continent)?

Or any rumours etc on new kit ie 7 speed DSG for 2 litre or 3.6 litre motors?

Or better versions of these bigger engines ie variable valve timing versions that Audi etc get.

Seems very quite on the development front. Maybe some stop/start on non Greenline to react to high fuel prices??

Current 7 speed DSG box cannot take the torque of the 2.0 or 3.6 engine, thats why its only fitted to low torque engines. For now these have to use the wet clutch 6 speed box.

The high torque 7 speed is already used within the VW-Audi Group just not made it to Skoda yet. It was released about 2 years ago and is capable of handling 550 Nm. It is 7 speed wet multi-plate version unfortunately like the 6 speed DSG as Borg Warner (who did the R&D and hold the licences) have still not been able to biuld a dry plate version which can handle over 250 Nm and still last the projected 400,000 Km.

Maybe in a year or two.
