Clearance Issues With 312mm

Featured Replies

Hello peeps,

Should be getting my brake kit next month and just wanted to ask a quick questions. Ive got standard 16" vRS alloys ive heard that the distance is small between the caliper and the inner rim that even alloy weights have to be moved to prevent potential scrubbing.

Is there any problems with having these brakes fitted to 16" alloys. In regards to tyre compression, full lock and general bumps in the road etc.. I will be getting an oem set up so should be the same as an audi tt.

Any support would be appreciated before I get the garage to fit it.

Plus ive heard some people say yay and nay but do I need to get longer brake lines as well for the kit?

Thank You

I have 312's & standard Alloys.

There is no rubbing with weights, but it might if larger ones were needed. Standard lines used on mine too.

+1 Clearance is tight but fine

Ran my standard vRS wheels for around 100k. Still running 16's of a different VAG marque

Standard hoses are long enough!

As for clearance, This is what to expect!

jesus christ thats tight :o

plenty of space, i think the pictures make it look tighter than it really is

I ran a fabia Vrs with standard wheels and 312 brakes for 50K with no problems what so ever

Caliper clearance is tight for me, but the "other" dimension of tight :D This has nowt to do with 312s though, just something to be aware of when perhaps going to the next stage up. ;) I haven't heard (yet) of any 16" VAG alloy wheel that doesn't clear 312s

now that is tight!!!

Tons of room, my wheels have scratched the Brembo logo off my callipers lol

As said, 312's will fit no issues. Remember they come on octy estates as standard with 16" wheels.
