2nd hand tuning box on ebay?

Featured Replies

Looks very much like a cheap copy of a dragon tuning box mate. I expect by the size of it, itll be a digital tuning box which are the better ones. You would probably see around 155-160 bhp i would think and some extra torque BUT expect it to go for around £100 and smoke like a ****** after 3K rpm

Ha-ha Cheers Mattie, remap the better option then?

very hard to say what the box will do for your car, you could always email the seller and ask how the car responded.

Bit of blue sky thinking here, if its a german box, with a german map. Maybe it wont smoke as much as you would think. I hear there mot complient tests are very very very strict for high smoking diesel this would be classed as "Un Failure!!"

Save your money and go to a specialist.

Call me cynical but supposedly worth over £400 new and not even a reserve price on it? NO RETURNS in big capitals along with zero rated seller. :wonder:

You should all stop guessing and the OP really shouldn't buy it!

That box on there belongs to me as for the 0 rated seller that is because it's my first time selling and there's no reserve because I need it gone and it's just sitting around doing nothing and I need the money! It was originally 410 Inc vat. And it's not a cheap copy it comes from German auto car specialists so is not a cheap copy! There was rolling road print outs when on my car to prove the results and it was 174.6 bhp and 302ftlbs of torque if I remember rightly but unfortunately it was lost in a house move! I brought this because I had warranty on car to was a safer option and the box made a big difference which I was very surprised and as for a he'll of a lot of smoke over 3k yes there's some smoke but not a lot compared to many who I no with remaps but can be different on different cars to how much smoke and how much power gain but I was not disappointed

And just continuing it is a digital box!

And just continuing it is a digital box!

I would stump up £12, join Freedom and advertise it for sale on here as well as ebay, probably got more chance of selling it.

Which company RR'd it, and whats your numberplate?

THey'll have a graph on file, and then you can post it with the eBay ad.

That's an idea but I think i will just see what happens on eBay for now. And as for the rolling road it was done by a mobile company when I was at a car event at rockingham speed way and I can't remember the company name now as it was a while ago.

I've got the dragon digital box on mine, set on 7 out of 10. Took it off for a while whilst I sorted a boost leak, but put back on this weekend.

Puff of smoke on startup, and then it's not too bad at all, right up to the top of the rev range.. Paid ~£100 on ebay in the winter.

Makes a noticable difference to the performance, kinda moves the torque up the rev range a bit, and extends it considerably. Although I'm a little worried about running it with my decat =/

I know remap before decat is bad, but as this works differently, any thoughts on this (sorry to hijack thread)?

Is the box shown in the ebay ad the actual one?

Coz the plugs look wrong for the VrS...

Yea see mine different to the one you have It is a digital tuning box so it has so be set up by mapping software as for the decat issue Im not sure tbh!

It is the one in the pic and no the plugs arent wrong because it came off my fabia Vrs they are the genuine plugs and have vw/Audi stamped on them!

No setup per say, it's plug & play.. You can move a little jumper inside the unit to adjust it's ferociousness. 7 is good

RE: the plugs - they look different to the ones on mine - mine are round and have a locking collar type thing on them. The photo on ebay looks more like kettle lead typoe things on the unit? Does it plug into the main engine plug? Right hand side of engine as looking into engine bay, under the engine guard?

Odd. :S

I had a tuning box briefly, clogged my injectors

Yea these have locking clips on and yea plugs in under the engine cover the pics I put up aren't very good tbh! And as for injectors clogging that unfortunate Ive never experienced that and I've been playing about with tuning boxes for quiet a while

I seem to be the only one lol

Hijack away chap, this thread is going nowhere slowly.

In reply, I'd forget what you think you know.

A smokey remap will ruin your cat, therefore you don't need to decat, you need a good quality remap!

How hard can it be, just spend the money you would have wasted on the decat and get a quality remap at a reputable tuner. The standard exhaust system is excellent and isn't holding you back at all. If you're more interested in show than go then get a flashy backbox and leave it at that.

^^^^^ a man talking sense. Nothing wrong with the standard exhaust what so ever

Matt

Except it now sounds far from tractorish!

I love the sound of the Milltek system over normal, sounds insane. Plus it's on now, so not gonna take it off again (just yet).

Remap is on the cards, eventually..

Agree 100% +

But Im a sucker for a shiny exhuast, I swear I was a magpie in another life, not ashamed to admit it tho.
