MDI Cable Positioning

Featured Replies

Hi All

A question for existing vRS owners.

Should be picking up my vRS estate later in September. When I owned a Mark 1 vRS I had my iPod cable and iPod hidden in the "false" floor of the glovebox- there was a lid you lifted revealing a second small storage area.

Does the Mark 2 vRS have a similar arrangement? If not, is it possible to have the MDI cable feeding direct into the glovebox? i'm not keen on having me iPod or a portable hard drive (haven't decided which way to go yet) on view to potential thieves.

Thanks for your help!

It has its own little cubby hole..You wont need to cut any holes

The iPod cant be seen in the space for it. It tucks well back and out of sight

Hope this helps

Does it have a cover, or is it there for the world to see?

Everyone can see in as there is no cover but to be honest no-one can see the USB drive as it's so far forward

Its a daft place to put it when you think theres 2 gloveboxes above it...

Yeah MDI location is rubish on the Fabia, would have been better under the passenger seat. This is where they used to fit the CD changers on the old VW Polo

Yes, a shame there's not a cover on the MDI cubby or the socket is under the passenger seat a la MK1 Fabia with CD changer.

Immediate solution would be to simply unplug the hard-drive/USB stick attached to cable from the MDI port and hide in glovebox.

If you don't get a cable thrown in with your purchase, I have one that I will let you have for a few quid. I have just got shot of my vRS as I can no longer afford to run her and my Octavia vRS. The cable I have is for an iPod. PM me if you are interested...

The Cubby is okay but agree with others than maybe it should have been fitted in the top glove box, or it my view if you bought the front armrest as socket in there would be better.
