Couple of questions about a boost gauge

Featured Replies

I am hoping to fit a pod and boost gauge (courtsey of sivrs) in my vrs on sunday but i am just after a couple of pointers. I have read rob's guide on pimp my skoda and also a few previous posts on this topics but just need a couple more pointers as i really want to try this myself but i have never done anything like this before and also never tackled auto electrics.

I know i have to join into the pipe coming out of the fuel regulator, this may sound like a daft question but i take it i am suppose to just cut that hose and join in my t piece there with some jubilee clips? Also my hose looks like its a different material from that in rob's guide does that make a difference?

One more daft question then i think i might be confident to try it myself lol, I know which wire i have to join into in the headlight switch (red/black wire) whats the best way to do this? do i have solder the wires together or is there another way to do it? I have never done auto electrics before so i am a bit aprehensive about it but i want to give it a go instead of puting it to a garage.

Any help would be great.

Hi Buddy,

Yes you are right you can cut the pipe to the FPR add in a T piece to join to Boost gauge.

I no longer have this as had a spare pipe on manifold when i deleted SAI,N249,N112 and breather system.

Then you can splice teh wiring into the headlight switch using connector like these.

II routed my boost pipe under the inner wing main wiring loom plastic covering. (L shape bBlack plastic housing)

There is a gromet in the corner of the rear inner wing that you can feed the pipping behind glove box and to the gauge.

I then routed mine wiring and pipping up the side of driver pillar to my pillar mount gauge.

Hi mark

thanks for the pics, i see you connected into a different wire that i was thinking does that matter? I had a look at rob's guide and he connected into the red/black wire at the headlight switch? This part of the job is the only bit thats putting me off iam confident about the bits in the engine bay etc its just the wiring iam not to confident about doing.

Are they snap connectors in your pics mark?
