a skoda dilemma

Featured Replies

well with my car reaching its 2nd birthday, my thoughts start to look to the future, and its doesnt look like theres a skoda in it sadly

I suspect the next Vrs is not going to hit the market for a couple of years by which isnt going to suit me! This is my third vRS and I will not want another of the current ones.

there seems to be only snippets filtering through about new cars and the vRS always seems to follow later after initial releases

I just dont know what will be next, theres a whole range of cars out there with a smidge more power ( and I only do about 8000 miles a year so it will still be petrol)

have to say the giulietta cloverleaf is pulling at my hearstrings, it looks a grown up hatch with good power

the wierdest thing is..I own a skoda...I mean, you know..A SKODA!

but when considering a new car car I still fall into the trap of sweeping generalisations

can I really consider a peugeot rcz or megane rs250 or even an alfa..I mean they are french and italian, they have dodgy electrics and bits fall off and the dealers are dodgy

I did fnd out thet my closest peugeot dealers is Robins and Day and seem to be owned by peugeot themselves in some way (and by all accounst take customer satisfaction quite seriously as it makes up a percentage of their wages!)so that makes me feel a bit more confident. and the alfa owner forum seem to rate my local alfa dealer as well.

I really need to get over my badge snobbery :)

why not hold on to the VRS until more news of new one? 2 year old petrol surely you loose a big chunk of coin for only having driven 16000 odd miles!

Audi RS4 ;-)

Don't for goodness sake get a French or Italian car! We've all been there, done that, and they aren't getting any better! Just look at the reliability polls to see that.

I'd agree with FUBAR, hold on to the one you've got, or else have a look at what VW/Audi/SEAT have on offer. But no French or Italian rubbish, really!

I was going to suggest S4. If you could afford RS4 I would go C63 instead.

Golf r

Cupra

Mazda speed 3

from experience with my current car, I think I will be going one of two ways next time around.

a - Sell VRS , buy cheap run around for day to day, and something special for the weekends

b - upgrade the VRS to something even more fun, but with 4WD

c - Keep VRS and tune the beejesus out of it, and get a daily runabout as well.

at the minute Im leaning towards option A

Depending on the something special it may be cheaper to tune the VRS.

I like A - me and my wife are looking for a "toy" of some description...

Though we admittedly have the VW Camper bug as well lately..

Used 911 or tricked up Defender

Going for the all out dream eh? The 2CV for the weekends and some other ****e box for the rest of week :p

im always on the look out for a smart roadster coupe brabus in black with the silver pillar dont know why but would love to have one low miles to just have be worth a bomb in 20 years if you can dry store one and petrol is £45.63 a litre:D

Could I suggest Ann Summers??

It's 2yrs old - just keep it! You've hardly done it justice to be honest, covering 8k a year emoticon-0148-yes.gif

Keep it longer and enjoy it

Audi RS4 ;-)

that's a good idea---you could help pay for those expensive seats that all the overpaid football managers sit in whilst watching the match--lovely shade of red with AUDI logo :swear:

Well for me the problem (although it isn't really a problem) is that there isn't a car with the performance, space and build quality of a Octy vRS that comes anywhere near in terms of price unless you go s/h of course. I like the look of the Alfa Giulietta a lot, but it lacks cabin/boot space, and build quality/reliability still appears to be an Alfa issue (although far less than in years gone by). Yes, if I had the money an S4 would be great, but it is a lot of money compared to the vRS unless you get an old/high milage example. Personally if I was looking 2nd hand and had a budget that could stretch a little I would be very tempted by the Jag XF right now, decent value 2nd hand, big cabin/boot, build quality reputation very high and most importantly very quick :D

I agree with g_tee, do what we've done, keep the skoda and buy a VW camper

XF is a very nice place to be. I drove a 275 bhp 3.0 diesel the other day, was relentless. Id have one.

Go A)

Basic Fabia day to day, 2nd hand Boxster for weekends!

Or just go XF. There're some fabulous deals out there on 2nd hand petrol ones!

Something special for the weekends, a Boxster? Seriously?

Nissan gtr! No question. Prices aren't too bad for a used one, just got to factor in maintenance. Boxster = rubbish

Got to be c in my view. A car that's done 16k hasn't done anything and as others have said, you'll lose a shed load of cash.
