Hi - just got a Fabia VRS

Featured Replies

Hi all, looks like a really good community here so I thought I would sign up. I'm Marc, Just bought a 2006 Fabia VRS in black privately. I need the economy as I have recently got a new job and need to drive 60 miles a day but wanted something with a bit of power! I have been driving my dad's new 1.4 Fiesta up until now (put quite a bit of mileage on it until I found the right Fabia!) :wonder:

I need some advice on servicing and I also appear to have a small coolant leak so I need some of your knowledge. I will post up a thread in the Fabia section soon

Really pleased with the car though, so much better than my 1st car, a 1996 Rover 214Si... I hope I am not plagued by head gasket issues again though - don't think it is as I am seeing a tiny puddle of coolant on my driveway when it has been left overnight.

Cheers.

Welcome to Briskoda Marc I used to have a 2006 Fabia VRS (Yellow) always wanted black its the best colour in my opinion for the Mk1. Seeing what you have had to put up with driving wise you've made a giant leap in quality reliability power and just driving experience  I had mine remapped to 173.3bhp and I still got over 60mpg most of time that was some long journeys and I worked it out off my refils the computer on mine was within 2/10's of what it really got so was spot on for me. Before remap 71.9mpg was my best on a 100 mile drive with A/B roads and 20 miles of motorway but I was trying for my personal record that day and did around 55mph.

You will never look back on the scabby rover and think of anything you liked more about it I promise!

ps if your not dropping low on coolant and youve been topping it up a lot make sure its to the correct level might just be overflow finding its own level but DO get it checked out for leaks ASAP don't let it run into winter.

Hi and welcome aboard.

Welcome to Briskoda.

you got the aircon on? (I run mine constantly) that will give a puddle on the driveway, before you jump to coolant leak, check you are actually loosing coolant ;)
