LR being accused of being copy cats for potentially bringing out a Defender replacement - oh the irony!

Wonder where the likes of Skoda got the idea of a Yeti-type vehicle from.... ;)

LR are copy cat's if we are all honest.

The series one that started the Land Rover breed back in 1948 was a copy of the "Willys Jeep". Same chassis length and the designer had an old ex-war one on his farm in Anglesey.

He realised that there was a market for them as the supply of ex-war jeeps was drying up. So the prototype centre steer series one not only had the same 80 inch chassis, but other parts too. Unfortunately it no longer exisits. It's the lost ledgend to Land Rover fans.

Many of the first 20 Series one prototypes do exist though, still with the 80 inch chassis like the first four(ish) years of production. Even though they were never called series ones of course. They were "Land Rovers" only as it was made by Rover Car Company.

OK, that's enough. I don't want to bore you all on Land Rover history... :D

I like the current Freeland (like the current Defender more though!)and Land Rovers generally, but this is also a blantant copy by Land Rover!

Produced by Saturn from 2001 to 2007
