Car Care treatment for brand new car

Featured Replies

I have just ordered a new Superb estate and want to give it a good start in life. I am not sure this is a job I want to tackle initially but, of course, I would look after it thereafter.

My Skoda dealer has been extolling the performance of Gardx with its lifetime guarantee so this is appealing. It so happens that my wife has recently taken delivery of a red Nissan Juke which has been given the Diamondbrite treatment. The car valet company came to our house, erected a gazebo over the car and were able to complete the task without any hindrance from the sun. This was a very professional job performed by local people who took great care with both the inside and outside even to the extent of clearing the tyres of yellow markings and some writing on the alloys which should have been completed when given the PDC by the Nissan garage.

I would appreciate advise on Gardx and Diamondbrite plus any other processes such as Suparguard.

Thanks

What was the cost of the treatment on the Juke?

whether or not it's worth it depends on the price you are paying for the treatment. if you are paying about £100+ then it isn't worth it. you can protect it yourself for much cheaper than that

I am slightly biased but I would say your best off getting someone away from the dealer to 'prep / detail' your Superb.

Sounds like the company that did the Juke are of interest to you and you were happy with the results so why not get them to do the same?

The problem with the sealants offered at the dealers is that they more than likely won't prep the surface correctly before applying the sealant, this is due to the lack of time they will have to do this and in the long run the sealant's durability isn't that good.

The cost of a full valet followed by both inside and outside treatment with Diamondbrite was £200 which compares with £399 by the Nissan dealer.

Thanks for your view on this topic. My view was exactly the same as yourself in that I know the local valet company from first hand experience. I couldn't believe how hard the husband and wife team worked on the car. They were even able to point out a couple of small paint imperfections which quite honestly I couldn't see. They only charged me £200 which was half the price to be charged by the dealer.I should also state that they had 100% ratings with checkatrade and very complimentary comments.

I have just had a quick look at the link provided which is very interesting.

Thanks very much.

£399 is just utterly rediculous, when you factor in the cost of the treatment products and the amount of time a dealer will spend applying it. So that makes the £200 seem naturally more tempting.

If it were me, with a brand new car and I didn't have the items and know-how, I'd get the dealership to leave the transport film on the car, not touch the paintwork in any way, and take it to a recommended local detailing specialist.
