Boost gauge fail!

Featured Replies

Hey all,

Decided I'd have a look at fitting the boost gauge today, failed completely lol

Have no idea I'm gonna route the pipe? Everyone goes to the passenger side grommet but it's the exact same on the driver side so decided I'd go there, saying that I can't get near the grommet, couldnt get to the passenger side one either! Tried removing the wiper arms to remove the scuttle panel for more room but the wipers were jammed and wasn't gonna start pulling them off. Even if I got through the grommet I don't know how I'd get the pipe to the gauge, I have a vent pod from awesome and with the original vent removed I can't see any way of getting it behind it, drilled a few holes and it's just solid steel behind it. And not only that I had planned on taking power from the headlight switch but can't get near any wires to power it.

What do ido????

Please help me lol

Give up never to try again? :D

The grommit on the passenger side should be obvious enough surely. No need to remove the scuttle panel etc.

It comes out behind the glovebox. Remove the glovebox with 4 or 5 torx screws. Once removed you should be able to route the pipe behind the dash?

Have you had the glove box off? There should be enough room behind there.

But with the vent removed on the drivers side looking into it it just stops, it's sealed off nearly, I'm sure with the globe box off there is enough room but it still won't feed into the vent?

Gas-axe :p

Fitted it yet?

I don't see how? I've had the vent out and it's just steel behind it?

If i remember rightly when i fitted my a pillar gauge and mount i drilled a hole in the grommet from the bay into the car to run the piping through into the cabin. I also had some of the speedo area out including the clocks and you can get the piping through a hole if you drill one into the vent area.Although i didnt as have it on the a pillar, but i did have a good look as i will eventually get a vent mount i think for a bit more oem style.

Anyway a pic of it mounted as it stands.

I'm just afraid to start pulling clocks out incase I damage anything, I'm also very fussy and if I damage any of the trim prying anything out I'd hate myself lol

from SCN...

"The passenger side grommet behind the suspensiont turret." Remove glovebox (easy) to route pipe. also worth having a section of coat hanger available to help feed pipe and wires.

J.

I fed the pipe through the same gromet the bonnet catch wire uses on the drivers side, it was quite a fussy job and I had to remove most of the trim below the steering wheel but I thought it was a bit stupid putting the pipe over to the passengers side then fetching it back to the drivers side behind the dash !
