LED map lights

Featured Replies

Those little LED lights in the overhead console... is there any way to turn them off when you don't want them?

bestest,

M.

They are called 'cat vision' and no they cannot be turned off.

They are not map lights, the light they give off is very subtle and designed to create a better place at night inside the car. They cannot be turned off or disabled.

I´m sure you can turn them off and on when you want. Must see what wire makes them come on when door is opened and unplug it ( you may have to cut it)

They are not map lights, they are there to purely give off a soft ambient light when it is dark, hence their name.

They only come on one the sidelights or headlights have been turned on,

The map lights are totally independent and have a switch right next to them.

Sorry my mistake :giggle:

In this case just put some tape , same color as interior, over the light

The over head trims not hard to remove, I'll look when I put in the LED bulbs to see if you can disconnect the cat vison, cutting them is a bit caveman for me.

Could you stick something in the little holes? Like cotton wool, you can get it out and it wont look as bad as electrical tape.

I thought you can increase/decrease the ambient light/footwell lights. I'll have a look in car set up.

I find it odd that a lot of people are wanting these on other Skoda models (octavia etc.) when we have them as standard, as they are on the Passat and here we are talking about removing or disabling them.

I dont find them a distraction, and don't notice them at all. The light is very subtle, and helps you locate the various controls when its dark.

Fully agree, my first Superb 8 years ago had the red ones, which were ideal, the second had the white ones, the third also has white. I don't find the white so pleasing ( personal taste) but they do their job well are not intrusive or distracting.

Agreed! I'm sure that the LEDs could be changed to those of a more favourable colour to suit some drivers, or removed altogether for those who don't want them. There is NO NEED to consider cutting any wires! Removing the central lighting cluster for modifications is simplicity itself, involving one swivelling clamp and two screws. :)
