Hi, my V6 Combi was fitted with Continental Sport Contact 2 tyres (18 inch wheels). I have travelled 16,000km and the tyres are almost due for replacement. Here in Australia, a lot of our roads are coarse chip bitumen so there is a fair bit of road noise. Although the factory fitted tyres have performed well, I think that they are too noisy and not very long wearing. Any suggestions for a better solution would be welcome.

Michelin Primacy HP's would be my choice for longevity and to deal with most abuse.

Expensive, but on both the Mondeo and Octavia I've had over 30,000 miles from a set.

I've switched to Michelin Pilot Sport 3's and find them to be in a completely different world, to the pirellis that were on car when delivered. Wear is quite light, and road noise is far less, expensive compared to someothers but worth it in my opinion.

Had this argument with work why I buy michelins rather than cheap stuff.

Then they looked at how many sets I've had on current car and worked out cost per mile and michelins worked out cheaper long term!

Well that three votes for Mich PS3 yes. Long lasting, very good grip. Agree with the Conti comment ie OK but not quite as good as the Michelins.

In rough terrain not so sure, might lean towards Primacy but you have a choice between the Primacy, PS3 and new Super Sport for 18" rims. Check all the contends out on the Uk's Tyre Review site.....
