I recently had my Superb MK II serviced by a friend and he couldnt reset the service indicator, anyway Ive managed to borrow a Hex+can cable and following ross tech instructions http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/VW_Golf_(5K)_Instrument_Cluster Ive reset the ESI however maxi dot now displays that there are 9400 miles to the next service and 300 + days (cant remeber exactly) anyway I thought it should display --- if its variable until the car decides the driving style etc, is this correct? How do I make sure the car is on variable bearing in mind it uses the UDS protocol so I cant use the SRI tool.

Can anyone help?

Go into dash and look down the adaptation list.

One of your options is recoding ESI or SID or similar, select that and choose ESI and save.

Cheers just checked and its allready set to esi. In assuming the service interval showing in maxidot will change when I've driven a few miles.

My maxidot definatly appears to be displaying the services as fixed but the car is set to esi. Am I making something? Is there a seperate coding for the maxidot?

Any help is greatly appreciated

All sorted had to reset the oil to good quality and its now showing the dashes
