I maybe wrong but.....

I have ordered a VRS with the black wheel option. I have always used in the past (and still do on my current cars) wonder wheels wheel cleaner, which for those of you who don't know is acidic but absolutely fantastic at getting filthy wheels back to new.

Am i right in thinking that it's not a good idea to use this on the new wheels? does anyone currently use it on the black option?

If anyone has any alternatives which work aswell as wonder wheels please let me know.

When I had black alloys on my Mark 1 vRS I used Stardrops which you can find in the cleaning aisle of your local supermarket.

use bilberry wheel cleaner here on my black wheels without any problems.

would keep wonder wheels well away from the painted finish as they wouldnt stay painted for long.

if you clean and seal your wheels each week you will never have to use those wheel cleaners, cheers.

I agree, I use nothing more than Zaino clear seal and a third bucket when cleaning my car with regular shampoo in it and a separate wash mit.

Ive just bought some wolfs brake duster but havent got round to trying it yet

Vote for Bilberry.

I used to always use Wonder Wheels but the slight acidity of it seemed to lift the paint from the wheels.

turtle wax ice wheel cleaner & hot wheels work in the same way as wolf's if your looking for an off the shelf product

I too was won over by Wonder Wheels, the brush supplied with it worked well and it lifted even the tough ingrained brake dust off the inside edges of the really inticate alloys I had on my old BMW.

However, after a few years of irregular use it took its toll on the finish, it dulled the silver finish to grey and even yellowed in places over time, not good

It may be OK for those alloys that haven't ever been cleaned properly as a once off but not for regular use.

Actually...Its completely different to Wolf's Brake duster :wonder:

Brake Duster dissolves iron dust...Hot wheels and TWIWC dont

+1 on Bilberry, diluted correctly you shouldn't have any issues.

Although not currently needed with such a regular wash routine

Since i asked the question i have read reviews of the product and it seems to be universally loved.

Good to know it won't do any harm to the black option wheel, as i have never had a painted alloy before.

thinking of buying a set of 17s soon and i mite buy sum wheel wax its stops brake dust sticking to your wheel justed wash of with soapy

water nothing else has enybody used this yet pete

Even regular silver alloy wheels are painted.

Ive got some custom alloy wheel cleaner from autoglym, comes with 2 brushes and works wonders... its called, wait for it... custom alloy wheel cleaner

Hi mate,i use 2 auto glym alloy wheel sealer, and i also use rim wax sealer by smart wax, the 1 i like the best is auto glym, hope that helps.

hi i always autoglym washed every week and h/d wax every 3mouths i will be buying new alloys soon and was thing of buying this rim wax

but the autoglym ealer is only in a spray in am i right and you think this better pete

My car will have standard alloys so I'd like to keep them in as good condition as possible. Think I'll give Autoglym a try.
