Need a replacement Fabia alloy

Featured Replies

First question - I need a replacement Fabia alloy

I have a slow puncture on my front offside and this has come to light after putting on a new valve and tyre from my old mk2 golf

Will the alloy be the problem here ? Tyre not seated properly ? Alloy bent ???

Second question - will these fit on a Mk1 Fabia?

6J x 15 " ET38 Skoda Alloy Wheel New & Boxed Part No. 1U0 601 025H 7ZS

Skoda Octavia 2001 - 2005 (Only For 1U Chassis Type Vehicles not for 1Z Chassis

How can I check the chassis type ? My documents V5 hasn't come back from DVLA

Any advice would be appreciated as I am new to Skoda and Fabia.

Thanks

1u refers to the mk1 Octavia, 1z refers to the mk2 Octavia. Those wheels will be fine on your car - the Fabia and mk1 Octavia both have a PCD of 5x100, and the offset will be fine too. You can check the width and offset of your current wheels by taking one off and looking at the stampings on the back.

A slow puncture could be caused by lots of things. I would take it to a tyre place and ask them to check it. What makes you think the wheel needs to be replaced?

Old alloys can leak at the bead due to corrosion. Often happens after new tyres are fitted.

When I got the car - the geezer who sold it mentioned a slow puncture and since then I have replaced the tyre and valve on that very wheel - can't think what else it would be.

I had a puncture repaired once, but it still lost air slowly. Turned out to be a faulty valve. More likely cause would be corrosion or a build up of crap on the inside of the rim - a good clean up of the inside of the rim may be all that's required. If the alloy was bent it should have been obvious to the fitter when he balanced it. Sometimes alloys go porous.

Have you been offered a single wheel or a full set?

Ideally i'd like to get a single replacement from a scrapper but I saw the Octavia 15's on the bay for a decent price for 4.

Would be good to get a nice set for the summer and a single to run with the other three good ones I have for winter. Money !!!!

I have gone through this recently

You can pick up a second hand fabia alloy (firstforspares google) around £50 delivered

My cure was ten pounds well spent at an independant tyre fitting svc

The new valve seat was leaking due to rubbish in the seal

If it is the rim that is leaking they have special sealant after cleaning the rim

The test they do TUB of water job will show the leak, and they will know that the cause is

National

Nice one - will give that a try - when I checked today it was flat as a pancake

I just mentioned when having new tyres fitted that one wheel was going down - they checked and found it to be porous and painted something on which cured it
