cooling fans problem

Featured Replies

Used my car to drive to the station yesterday, not driven hard (only a short burst) and only a 5/10mins journey. Left my car, with the cooling fans running, didnt think too much of it. Came back to it, to find the battery dead.

The same thing has just happened after driving it home. The temp gauge is reading 80/90 as normal.

Is there any common problem or sensor that could be causing this?

Cheers guys!

Hello, i had the same problem my fans were staying on all the time. I just kept taking the fuse out, when ever i stoped, so i could still keep using it. I took it to a garage and they found out that two cables had rubbed against each other, creating a circuit and this was the problem. Hope this helps.

i would think that the wires from the fan switch have rubbed together and caused an open circuit after the switch itself

Anyone know the fuse number?

You didn't give the year for the car...

The fan fuse is not in the main fusebox - it's fuse number 8 (30A) and 5 (40A) at the battery.

Fuse 8 feeds the thermo switch, so if you pull this and the fans continue to run, then the fan controller is probably faulty.

Fuse 5 provides power to the fan controller, which in turn supplies the fans at high speed
