Front Mounted Intercooler & Air Intake

Featured Replies

I'm new the forum, so no idea if this has already been posted.

I am looking at getting the front mounted intercooler and the pd160 air filter from jabba sport. I have already had my vrs remapped, so what will I be gaining from adding these two modifications?

Thanks

Matt

Hi Mat,

Welcome to the forum. If you are merely adding the FMIC and PD160 the only gains you notice (if any) will be that your car will be able to performat it's best for longer in hotter ambent temperatures.

You may gain 2/3hp at most from the intake with better throttle repsonse but that'll be about it.

Your best gains would be having a map tweek from Jabba to suit the new mods.

Whereabouts in Leicestershire are you?

I heard that by putting on the pd160 air filter it reduces the amount of smoke that it produces...?

Do you know anything about this?

Thanks

Yes, it's nonsense.

Well thats put me off that then...

I currently have my car remapped to 170bhp and other little modifications, what other things could you recommend i do to it next?

Thanks

Matt

For more speed it starts getting pricey now. Brakes? Suspension?

I've recently had the brakes done, with brembo discs all round, could probably do with uprating the pads.

The suspension was already lowered by 40mm all round when i bought the car.

Im looking for speed now i guess and looks again...

When it suits Matt pop down to Hinckley and I'll take you for a spin.

As matt1chelski has said, more speed over and above a remap and the £££££'s start racking up.

When I had my intercooler fitted at jabba sport they said I would see a slight increase in torque over the standard one. I did have it remaped by them at the same time thou.

But I didn't get it for that reason, I choose it because of the slightly warmer weather in jersey and the fact I take it to france and didn't want to suffer heat soak.

One thing I found out when mine was fitted though was that they weren't able to fit the foglamps in due to the pipework, just to bear in mind.

Yeah when I'm round Leicester way I will pop down Jonny5ive, just wanting to get a few bits done to it as only just joined this site and seen what potential there is forthe vRS. I will upload some photos later when I've washed and polished her.
