IRO £600, are you near Blackburn at all, there is a garage called Audi Motorsport who can fit a recon one for around the money I mentioned. The guy is an ex Audi mechanic, and is very very good.

I had to have work done on my 1.9 turbo. I used the Turbo Centre on recommendation of a Skoda manager.

I have to say their service was really good and they give friendly advice on the phone.

Location will matter here, as the hourly labour rate will vary depending on which part of the country you're in. Why people don't put even rough location info in their profile is beyond me...

For starters, ask for a breakdown of the £1000 cost, so you can see what each part of the job is costing you, and also how much the actual turbo is costing.

The price for the unit varies depending on which engine exactly. IF you go online http://www.eurocarparts.com/turbocharger with your Reg we stock 2 choices for most, a Brand New unit or a fully re manufactured unit - Both have the same 12mth guarantee, so its down to personal choice.

As for fitting, the guys are right a main dealer will rip you arm off, anywhere in the country but there are LOADS of independent mechanics (some Ex Dealer with years of experience) who can normally not just do the job CHEAPER but actually do it better!

IF you are replacing the Turbo, may i STRONGLY advise on doing the Air Filter, Oil Filter and any feed pipes while your there - For the sake of an extra £30 in parts, its worth it!

How do you select if want a price for either a new or recon one?

I just entered my reg. number (2008 2.0 PD) and was quoted £1206

The NEW would suggest that's a brand new one - PM Me your reg and ill see if there are any other options available (normally when you select 'turbo' it will show you more than 1 result, if just that one has been shown, im guessing thats the only 1 listed to fit your engine.
