How easy would it be...

Wouldn't a ko4 conversion be easier to do and use money you save on a set of forge piston's

Really need snow mucher to get on here. He has been down this route already so it is worth talking to him.

I've read that the k04 isn't really worth doing for the money involved. Trying to sway away from the idea of a forged bottom end etc, It all adds up. Would of liked to do the breaks and go for a bigger turbo. Cheers, i will have to see what he has to say!

Actually don't think a K04 would be easier as you will not be able to use std downpipe and also inlet pipe to MAF.

So that kit looks a promising compromise IMO and dam safe for at least 270BHP on std engine internals.

Maybe a Hybrid K03s with K04 internals could be another alternative to that Kit, as then you would not need to replace much and be looking at a healthy 270+ bhp.

I am not that sure which would be a better turbo of those 2 but guess that would depend on potential future mods and what user wants to gets in terms of power as KO3s hybrid and K04 will run out of puff up past 270bhp.

Someone in the know can add more to this i am sure.

I would be very tempted by this myself..

i would just put a k04-001 on

mapped this will see 260 to 270bhp

all you need is

s3 injectors

s3 maf

s3 fuel pump

and a custom map

but before i would do the above i would get the car to stage 2 as thats a big jump again like standard to stage 1!!!!

get the handling setup and braking to its best then think about power upgrades!!!!!

The main problem with those Eliminator kits, is that they still use the OEM exhaust manifold.

The stock mani is simply not upto the job, it WILL melt and crack

Nor can the stock mani flow enough, causing a back-pressure build-up.

As for 350bhp from those kits - dream on

No way the stock injectors and fuel pump, let alone the stock head + block displacment can support those figures.

The other concern is with EvaGreenT - the folks who sell those kits - is their rep for selling chinese clone units, rather than genuine Garrett units.

Cheers for the input people!

Hmmmm, May have to be the K03s hybrid then. Allways fancied the idea of a largish turbo tho :p

Rather than pump all your $ into modding the engine, do as missingmyvrs says, get the handling sorted 1st:

Decent coilovers, Front and Rear ARBs, Upper/Lower Struts, TT cast wishbones + camber/castor correction, brake upgrade, Peloquin ATB

Then aim for the 270bhp mark.

That will give you somewhere in the region of 200bhp/tonne, which will put the car on the same power-to-weight level as a M5 of similar age.

Cheaper to run though, and probably better in the twisties than a big heavy BMW
