Featured Replies

hi all

im toony73

new to this forum but here goes i think i may be on regular.

i have just purchased a 12 month old 1.6 tdi s 90 bhp 12000 miles seems ok but i have two issues that you may help with so i dont look daft when i fire it back at the dealer.

firstly there seems to be a judder at high speed when breaking but seems ok at low speeds but i have been used to driving a saab 95 est aut so may just be how im driving it.

secondly i noticed while i was sat in traffic earlier the rev vounter was being iratic at idle between 700 to 1000 revs can anyone explain or is it kick ass time.

many thanks

Take it to the dealers, juddering when braking discs n pads mayneed to be looked at definate shouldn't be idling irratically 700- 1000 should be steady, your tracking maybe out as well for the juddering under braking

The variable idle speed could be down to the car doing a regen of the DPF. This however should only happen occasionally. My 105PS TDi always idles at 800rpm.

As for the vibration when braking at higher speeds, this is not normal. It would suggest an issue with the discs on front brakes. As Seboni121 says book it in for the dealer to have a look at both issues.

The idle speed problem sounds very much like a problem a guy at work with his new 1.6cr. The engine would visibly shake.

Dealer and Skoda were useless and he ended up trading it in for a 1.9 Octavia.

Main problem with the crtdi engine is not to drive it slow you've got to drive it, not to think to much about economy this will come eventually, this is why people have problems with the DPF unit needs a proper drive every now and again, the oldies who buy this car have major problems with them, they still drive it around at low low speeds and block the DPF
