Does anyone one this forum have any idea as to the instrument panel lights flickering when driving,, is there a relay or something that can be causing this,, even the dimmer does not operate very good,, car is octavia 1.9 tdi 2000 w plate.is this an easy fix.

Does anyone one this forum have any idea as to the instrument panel lights flickering when driving,, is there a relay or something that can be causing this,, even the dimmer does not operate very good,, car is octavia 1.9 tdi 2000 w plate.is this an easy fix.

If the dimmer is not operating properly my guess (electronics engineer) is that the control is worn or dirty. Sometimes wear or vibration can cause part of the track to become a poor contact. What sometimes works is rapidly turning the knob through several rotations. This removes gunge from the contact and can give a better connection.

Otherwise I'm afraid it will need replacing.
