well this afternoon I said goodbye to my 2.0 litre Octavia and collected my new 1.2 Yeti. "What on earth am I doing?" I was thinking as I handed over the keys. Then I took it for a spin over the back roads to my parents' house to collect my son .....what a drive! I am certainly not disappointed.

I grabbed a few quick snaps just before the Forth Bridge- not had a chance to go over it and admire the view through the sunroof. One thing I wasn't expecting is that it has come with folding wing mirrors. Even the dealer was a bit surprised and wasn't too sure whether these had been added as an option or not.

Nice!

Congratulations.

Congrats on the new arrival donhnall emoticon-0137-clapping.gifemoticon-0137-clapping.gifemoticon-0137-clapping.gif

The sunroof is AWESOME, got mine last Sept and have done about 8000 miles so far.

Kitten and I are VERY happy with Ivor. emoticon-0110-tongueout.gif

I'm just curious as to why you have 'fuzzed' out the 2nd half of the number plate..........................as other people also do.

My reg is HY60 KPL, it's on the car anyhow for all to see.

I don't feel so special anymore, someone else with a 61 plate!

Congrats, glad your enjoying the car as i am, looks good in that colour, and the sunroof is nice, if i had the chance i would have considered it (went for stock vehicle), but I felt the price was a little harsh! Haven't missed not having one so far, enjoying everything else so far!

As for Macdemon and your number plate question, with the rise of vehicle cloning i would prefer a car theft to at least do a little work to combine a number plate with a colour of stolen car, rather than just look it up on the internet. My previous security work starts playing on my mind! Don't know how much of a difference it makes, but prefer to play the safe card! B)

precisely! Just because I'm paranoid doesn't mean they're not all out to get me

Mine was a stock vehicle too, I had a choice, take the sunroof or order and suffer the 6 month wait. It really is quite an amazing drive. I still can't believe that it's a 1.2 under the bonnet!!

Very nice! I'm extremely jealous of your velux roof and folding mirrors - the former was unavailable and the latter a mere (unfounded) rumour when I ordered mine!

The sunroof was also 'off the menu' when Kitten and I placed our order, but I did some 'digging' and complained and we were allowed the sunroof with our Yeti emoticon-0102-bigsmile.gif

from the weather forecast it looks like I might have to wait a while before I can open the roof anyway. I need to figure out what the settings are for these mirrors though, the manual doesn't mention them at all. :smirk:

All MY12 Yeti Elegance models will have the electric folding mirrors now!

Good choice of car and congrats on your purchase.

I am just about to order a Yeti 1.2 tsi DSG Elegance and am dithering over the panoramic sun roof! What is it like? Does it make it much brighter inside? Frankly I would feel more confident if it was a non-opening glass roof panel (as per Honda Jazz) so no risk of leakage and no risk of wind noise.

What are the thoughts of those who have the panoramic sun roof??

Thanks James. The manual is obviously still MY11!. From my tinkering it seems the folded mirror position doesn't really do much. If I hold down the lock button on the remote, they fold but then they only unfold if the interior switch is not in the fold position.

Is that right or am I missing something?

Expatman, it is simply stunning and really does transform the interior. I had never seen one but had a test drive in an SE plus with sunroof. Suffice to say I was so impressed that I was gearing up to trying to prise the demo car out of the dealer's hands. As it turned out he then spotted an elegance with the sunroof so I practically frogmarched him over to his PC to order it.

Obviously since my car arrived yesterday the roof hasn't been open as it has been lashing down. (no leaks!)

But when I did the test drive I had the roof open and there really wasn't an issue with noise. There's a wee pop up wind deflector contraption that seems to work really well - much more so than the last time I had a sunroof in a Mk 1 Octavia.

If you're worried about leaks then the magic words "three year warranty" should give you the reassurance you need.

I've not got folding mirrors as that wasn't an available option when we purchased Ivor, and to be honest, we're not that fussed anyhow.

We would have killed for the memory seats though emoticon-0110-tongueout.gif

yes, my last three cars have been L&K Octavia with the electric seat. Ironically as my wife is only 4'10" she hardly ever drove the Octy as it felt too big to her. She's not had a go of the yeti so far but she reckons it is much more comfortable to drive so ironically now we would probably make more use of the electric seats! If I'd been able to choose the spec I would definitely have chosen the seats over the folding mirrors. The only mirror problem I ever had was when my Octavia was a week old and I smashed the wing mirror while reversing out of my garage - folding mirrors wouldn't have helped me there :smirk:

Sorry - didn't make myself clear! my question relates to road/wind noise with the roof closed, does the presence of the CLOSED sunroof increase the noise levels in the car at all?

How does the sunroof solid screen work - I believe it is electrically operated to open/close the screen so you can either have the sun coming in, or, if too strong, put a solid screen over the glass to reduce glare in the car.

I had the use of a 1.2 Roomster today in place of my diseasel vRS. What a swift engine for such a small size. I was really surprised.

cheers Iain, let me know if you want a look at the sunroof, the yeti logo mats are nice too.

Oh would love to see the velux!

The guys at West End are great ... can't recommend them highly enough.

aha, I understand. No, not at all noisy as far as I can tell. I've not done a back to back test in a non velux yeti to compare but the fact I can't really discern any noise would suggest to me that there's no difference.

The solid screen is not solid. It is a fabric blind with tiny perforations, so the car stays light inside. It just slides forward at the press of a button. Very impressive bit of kit.

so the question arises, can my MY11 have them retro fitted?

Congrats and enjoy. It sounds like you are anyway.

They can but I've seen mention on here that it will cost thousands and not hundreds. So not worth it.

Enjoy the car!!!

And to see some pictures of the sunroof and how it bathes the car in light look at these wide angle pictures I took the day I took delivery of my car:
